Hi, I've been ill so have only just caught up with this again. WOW what a great response!!!! All the dates mentioned are fine with me. Firemansam- I don't think there is a pub tho someone more local may know better

Donating to a rescue is a good idea too.

Shall we say it will be either 29th Jan or 12th Feb as they seems to suit most. If you really want to go & cant make these dates we'll try to work something out.

Looking forward to meeting every one.

Do you think we ought to put a warning in the local papers that the area is going to be invaded by lots of mad whippets & loony lurchers (w00t) (w00t)

Glad to hear you're better. Nice to see you back. :)

Which of the two dates shall we plump for then folks?.....Both are fine by me...does anyone have a preference? I'm hopeless at final decisions

Could all of you who are going on the walk please take cameras. :huggles:

I used to live there and as I am now in Scotland I will not be able to get down but would love to see some pictures of the walk. ;)

It is a beautiful place to walk the dogs!! I am jealous :(

Just for anslinmcg! I wanted to send yousome local pictures but couldn't work out how to do it privately. At least anyone who doesn't knowthe area can get an idea of the scenery around.

Sorry for the absence of whippet pictures but I'm sure there will be plenty after the walk! :D

Just realised there were a couple of replies I hadn't noticed. 12th Feb would be my preference unless the walk doesn't happen before noon then I can make the 29th Jan as well. No, there are no pubs near the three middle reservoirs. Nearest would probably be in Padfield, Hadfield or Tinwistle.

Thanks Gillian!! :huggles:

I used to live near the church!! :b You could be walking in my footsteps  there are that is where I used to walk the dogs!! Bracken used to love swimming in the reservior and eating the black berries near the church walls!!! :- "

Oh how I miss the scenery........ :(

Not here any more. Bulls Head in Tintwistle is quite good and we like the Peels Arms in Padfield. Do people want to meet at a pub first or afterwards? It's only a short drive from/to the car park at Torside from either pub I've mentioned or we could walk the bottom three reservoirs instead but I think the scenery is nicer further up the valley and you probably get less people walking around up there.

Wow the pic's look lovely.

I'm up for the pub, maybe we could have the walk first, work up a bit of an appetite and then go the pub for lunch / drink?

It looks like it will be Sun 12th Feb. Will post some fresh details once we've gathered a bit more information and agreed a bit more of the finer detail between ourselves.

Gillian..those photos look lovely...they make them look like something from the Italian Lakes :D

im for 12th , cant make 29th as its S.Y.W.C . keep us posted

I think the 12th will be ok for us. I'm a bit nervous about Lenny though what with him being a bit weird round other dogs. Whos taking any breeds other than whippets??

Will you be able to make that date Firemansam? I'm wondering if the babies will have flown the nest by then? I would really love to see Violet again

Edited to say that Lenny only seems bothered by other male dogs, perhaps he's just trying to protect his big sis?!!!!

The 12th it is then!!!! Thanks for helping sort this out Nicola

Jezza, I'll have a neutered male bedlington with me, he can be a bit stroppy sometimes but thats usually with really big dangerous looking dogs (he likes a challenge) We walked round on Boxing Day with 28 dogs between us from my dog club and managed not to have any major incidents. Wonder how many we'll all have between us (w00t)

Just to remind everyone that the walk is planned for Sunday 12th Feb. We have decided to meet at 11a.m. in the main car park opposite the sailing club. This will give us a good couple of hours walk and still leave time to get to the pub if anyone wants to  . The car park is plenty big enough for all of us.

DIRECTIONS_

Get into Glossop, probably via the A57.

In the centre of Glossop turn up Norfolk Street (B6105),next to The Norfolk Arms Pub.(traffic lights)

Follow this road up the hill, watch the speed humps!

Stay on this road, you will go round a very tight hairpin bend (Devils Elbow), you will be able to see the reservoirs below on the left.

Pass Torside Boarding Kennels on the right and look out for the sailing club on the left, you will see the masts of boats.

The car park is directly opposite the sailing club.

At a couple of points on the walk dogs need to be on lead as we need to cross the main road but most of the walk is safe off lead. There is a wooded section,a waterside section and some pathways. Its best to have waterproof boots on as it can be a bit muddy if it's rained beforehand. There is an ajoining field that sometimes has sheep & chickens in on one bit but there is a fence & we've not had any incidents yet (w00t)

If anyone needs more info, just ask.

Looking forward to seeing everyone & hoping for good weather.

all being well i will be there

will only have jan and kobi with me as mouse isnt too good in large groups :(

she would be sooooo scared and it would be miserable for her :(

she can stay at home and look after angel

looking forward to it :D

see you all there

Unless I've missed something where is everybody meeting, how long/far would it be (is it to much for a 5 month old pup) and how many going as it would be nice to put names to faces ( faces to names)

All being well I'd like to make on in

pub after?

OK Ive just seen where we're meeting :b :b
