Wow, your walk looks like it's going to be fantastic! I'm very jealous. Have a great time - and don't freeze, we've got Siberian snow coming

geography is not my best subject, please tell me how far Glossop is from Liverpool as the walk sounds great and we'd love to come and meet everyone

Depends which side of Liverpool you are. We did Glossop area to Formby in about an hour and a quarter with quite heavy traffic - and we got a bit lost at the Formby end  It will definitely be at least an hour though. Hope to see you there.

Julie D- at a rough guess I would say an hour and a half at the most on a Sunday morning. It takes 30- 40mins from Stockport. You would need to go on M62, M60 & M67 to get to Glossop. From Glossop centre it's only 10-15mins. Hope you can make it, it looks like we will have a good turnout. Look out Derbyshire!!! (w00t)

i made it from here ( which is 15 mins closer to liverpool than glossop is ) in 45 mins (w00t)

mind you a friend was driving and i had my eyes shut most of the way (w00t) (w00t) (w00t)

Unless I've missed something where is everybody meeting, how long/far would it be (is it to much for a 5 month old pup) and how many going as it would be nice to put names to faces (    faces to names)All being well I'd like to make on in

pub after?

We did this walk at Christmas & New year & our pup was 6months then & coped with it well. If it seems too much there are options to go back to the car park earlier, you don't have to go all the way round if you don't want to.

12 days & counting :) Have we any idea how many people are coming on the walk? I was telling someone about it (not a doggy person) & they said that if someone is planning on more than so many people getting together(but they didn't know how many this was) you have to inform the local authority  This sounds a bit odd to me but now I've got visions of us all being ordered out of Derbyshire (w00t) Someone please put my mind at rest over this. We had 28 dogs between us at Christmas without incident so I'm not too worried really.

i cant see anyone from the local authority giving up a sunday to be confronted by big hairy beasts (w00t)

( talking about the men of course not the dogs :- " )

i shouldnt worry , i will be there anyway ,, looking forward to it

One of OH's mates is a Peak Park Ranger in that area, and I tentatively mentioned it :b (sorry..but i felt duty bound because we know him well and he took us out with him two weeks ago and we met up with all the Rangers, and they made us a cup of tea back at base)...and he didn't seem concerned.

As long as the dogs are under control (Rangers do lightly patrol the area every Sunday and some may ask you to put your dog on a lead if it is off lead). Just be prepared to keep them on a lead, especially if you see someone in a red jackt approaching. :- " Dogs must be on a lead anywhere where livestock are about..i.e. sheep.

2 adults 1 child 1 whippy from our house

probably 2 adults 2 children and 1 whippy from friends

and hopefully 2 adults 2 children and 1 Springer from friends

all looking forward to it, but sounds like there may be too many for the pub to cope with, would it be wise to bring own food in that case ??

hope we get nice weather, got my binoculars out to look for Keith

I'll definitely be there with one Fred whippet. Have decided to leave Stan at home, as he will bark the whole way round and you'll all go back home with headaches.

Oh dear, I really don't know what to do now. Lenny may also bark (if you can call it a bark - more like wooooo wooooo (w00t) ) He is scared of other dogs, I want to bring him to get him used to other dogs but I'm worried it might be a bit much.

What does anyone else think?

So I will be coming with Molly and OH, possibly Lenny.

Are you able to come Firemansam or will you still have the pups at home?

Have a great time everyone - wish I lived closer - that scenery is beautiful - and smashing photos gilliwigs

Jezza, can't you bring Lenny with a bag of cotton wool balls (w00t)

Did I not mention that Hebe can bark for England?? (w00t) Dogs bark, I wouldn't worry about it Nicola. Hebe has this habit of howling at people approaching with dogs. Most are o.k. about it but sometimes they look a bit worried

I'm really looking forward to this walk, lets hope we get a nice day.

See you all soon.

Julie, Hebe, Rafferty(unless it's raining) & Scrumpy pup.

What time is everyone planning to arrive and where is the best meeting place ?

Could anyone who's going pm me so I can swap mobile numbers, please, it would be awful to go all that way expecting to meet up with lots of others and then not be in the same place

Hope the mild weather holds out, is it a 'welly' place or would old trainers be adequate? Julie D

Just to remind everyone that the walk is planned for Sunday 12th Feb. We have decided to meet at 11a.m. in the main car park opposite the sailing club. This will give us a good couple of hours walk and still leave time to get to the pub if anyone wants to  . The car park is plenty big enough for all of us.DIRECTIONS_

Get into Glossop, probably via the A57.

In the centre of Glossop turn up Norfolk Street (B6105),next to The Norfolk Arms Pub.(traffic lights)

Follow this road up the hill, watch the speed humps!

Stay on this road, you will go round a very tight hairpin bend (Devils Elbow), you will be able to see the reservoirs below on the left.

Pass Torside Boarding Kennels on the right and look out for the sailing club on the left, you will see the masts of boats.

The car park is directly opposite the sailing club.

At a couple of points on the walk dogs need to be on lead as we need to cross the main road but most of the walk is safe off lead. There is a wooded section,a waterside section and some pathways. Its best to have waterproof boots on as it can be a bit muddy if it's rained beforehand. There is an ajoining field that sometimes has sheep & chickens in on one bit but there is a fence & we've not had any incidents yet (w00t)

If anyone needs more info, just ask.

Looking forward to seeing everyone & hoping for good weather.

Just a refresher of the details.
