Talking to Judy tonight (& Im sure she wont mind me saying this as she has already said it elsewhere) as I understand it, as long as anyone that had been to Cornwall (& then for example ran at another club) dont come down with it by this weekend then we should be OK.

A time to wait and see what happens I think?

Quite right. The week-end will tell and I am sure that we will be OK, but not having the power of prophecy or a crystal ball, it is impossible to tell what this week will bring. As I have said, we are playing it safe as we were at Ragley and have had contact with dogs that have asscoiated with dogs who were in Cornwall. I have also said, this is no-one's fault!

The greyhound vet that I go to believes that if all dogs were vaccinated against KC then it would be virtually eradicated.

For the first time I had my dogs vaccinated against it earlier this year. I know that I'm not alone amongst the racers in doing this. Mind you it's not stopping me from keeping an ear out for coughing. :) I know that it's not 100% but it is 90+% so got to cut down on the likehood of them getting KC.

So far all of my dogs are okay.

I'm trying to get my head round it, but that's what I was thinking too. There were loads of people in Cornwall, yet we haven't heard of any other cases yet - so maybe it will be a storm in a teacup (fingers crossed). :sweating:

If Caroline's dogs got it at Ragley, the dogs at the Cornish opens will only be symptomatic this week at some point.

I am going to shut up now as I am feeling out on a limb with this.

I can't see why the threat of KC in August is any different than it was in April/May. There was a great big hullaballoo then and now it is being talked right down.

I was just thinking that the two cases in racing are unrelated, whereas last time it was obviously passed on from a certain meeting, and lots of dogs had it. If Caz's dogs happened to be near enough to the hounds that Alli mentioned, they could have caught it from them. No one else from Ragley has come down with it, so hopefully that might be the end of it - time will tell of course. If there are more cases, I think there would be a need to cancel racing for a few of weeks. I feel sorry for the Inde though, as their open was cancelled last time. The good thing is that there is a spare Sunday in 2 weeks if they need to cancel at short notice

Wouldn't that be great. I heard something similar on the TV a while ago. Apparently if everybody in the world abstained from having sex for 30 days then syphilis would be eradicated worldwide. Well it was some such STD anyway :D

It sounds sounds so tantalisingly do-able too doesn't it. But it would only take one non-conformist.....sorry two non-conformists to not sign up to Get Rid Of Syphilis Month........

No kennel cough in the Lizard dogs, all fit and well. Why Cornwall keeps getting mentioned I just don't know.

Because that's where the dogs had been while they were incubating KC in the days prior to coughing. It seems though that everyone parked around Caz at Cornwall are not affected, so that's good news.

Don't think the Lizard came into it at all, since Caz and Co hadn't been there, as they were at Ragley Hall.

I thought twice and thrice before posting this as I believe that fanning the flames is as damaging as the actual cause.

Lisa and Frankie are sneezing loads. No actual cough that I can detect, although they are obviously snotty and do the "Spit-the-Dog" thing without the actual spitting!

I stayed on the field at West Cornwall and we raced at both WC and the Lizard (and the charity night for what it's worth) We also attended Harvel's meeting last week.

I can say no more than this - I won't be visiting my local rip-off merchant (sorry - vet) as I'm sure this will pass in a week or so. Both dogs are feisty and normal, eating everything thats put in front of them and seemingly very happy with life.

Personally I don't think it IS KC, but obviously I can't say that for certain. They won't be at Harvel's next meeting as I don't want to spread whatever it is.
