well i wasnt there , but the pics ive seen so far seem a nice bunch of lurchers? at the end of the day we pay for 1 persons opinion on the day, we can either agree or disagree? someone will win others will lose, no point spitting the dummy out coz it dont go our way? christ id have given up showing long ago if i reacted so badly when i didnt win? what does it matter if you win ? if your dog does the job you have it for then whats a rosette????!!!
rosettes dont feed the family , working dogs do

im not saying my dog should of won hes a working dog not a show dog but there was people that travelled a far distance with there dogs and good looking dogs too that should of bin in a final atleast wot im saying is that everyone that was around me was saying the same thing (there picking there mates) my dog hasnt got the walk like the show dog or the stand cause hes just used to the mill and hunting thats it but a working dog show should be for working dogs and as i said how can a working dog be 20lb over weight in march come on now its basically the end of the hunting season they should look fit if there workers and im sure there will be people will agree im not here to argue if i wanted to argue i would of said something there beleave me

ah bigland..was it a "Working show". ? im led to believe it was a "lurcher and terrier show". there is a difference. over here in ulster when theres a "working dog show" the dogs are judged as youve just said..as working dogs., but an ordinary show is not quite the same..not to me anyway.

right ok so your dog works but you havent trained it to stand correctly whilst showing??? and he isnt also trained to walk like a show dog? or is it his conformation making him walk different? if you had the chance to say something on the day and you have posted here also you have said you will write to the countrymans weekly also, wont that make you look a bit cowardly? didnt say anything on the day yet will do on forums or paper?

a little tip , working dogs should be shown to the very best of their capabilities, therefore you should train them to stand correctly and walk in the best manner showing off their qualities, an over weight dog showing a good depth of muscle and condition will go over a dog plodded round a ring with no prep to the showing of the dog

 I hope you are not referring to the working lurcher class, because i judged that and the dog that won it was a whippetxgreyhound, 16 months old and in excellent condition. :) on the Sunday. What dog did you have in the ring then.?

Diane.

im referring to who ever judged the smooth coated under 23" there were only 3 dogs in it and i had the half brother to toms bitch jade the dog that won was about 20lb over weight and dont even bother tell me that hes a working dog in that weight and why did he win cause your all mates!!!!!

tell me this why was there people in lurcherworld jumpers on in a lurcherworld show ring then and i was there sunday (working lurcher and its 20lb over weight in march please) and you call your self lurcher men

What do you mean about the 20lb over weight lurcher in March???

I traveled up from Cornwall with my partner for this show, and when i was asked to judge the working lurcher class, i didn't mind at all, my partner didn't put his lurcher Magpie in that class, just because i was judging it. I know the people at Lurcher world and some have become our friends, but this would not influence me in any way, as to what dog i choose in the ring.

I hope this as sorted things. Diane

last year you were slagging lurcher world of stating about how exeter was fixed and there higher rates, also do you work youre dogs have you ever and this is not a topic for argument just a truthfull statement,i think lurcher world are the best group of shows in the country but i for one wouldnt judge are even go to a show i slagged of all the time, mark

Why does a lurcher have to be a working dog to enter, I dont work my dogs - they are pets, if it wasnt a working dog class then it matters didly squatt?? or am I missing something?

We went to this show on Sunday - didnt enter showing classes, not my thing but love seeing all the different types and shapes of Lurchers

My lovely saluki x boy had a go in the simulated coursing - he loved it and did ok but didnt go right through to the final - but he had fun and surley this is what its all about!??

When running a show it's a fact that running the show is down to the helpers. Why would anyone travel all over the country to do a show for other people and not take part themselves? The lady in the show ring was cold and wet and had nothing to do with the showing side of the show, she helps with chase the bunny in the main ring therefore she needs to where a lurcherworld jacket. Shows could not run without helpers. The other little guy (aged 3) is there for the fun of it not to win but doesn't he look good ! No complaints from him that he never won a rosette !

As far as judging goes we have 31 show days and therefore need 62 + lurcher judges over the course of the year. If scheduled judges do not turn up we have to fill as needed with people on site or there would be no show. If anyone feels they could do a better job of judging and face the ongoing critisism please get in touch or shut up.
