Hi;I just came accross this thread and am wondering how are things now?

Lida

Where do I start Lida?!

Things went from bad to worse, Ollie really couldn't settle in the afternoons and was getting in such a state. I couldn't bear it, my happy man was turning into a really stressed out boy.

The kong incidentally was left untouched until the minute I got in (even stuffed with pate / cream cheese / smooth peanut butter you name it I tried it :( )

I gave up on all the shop bought ideas, chews, kongs etc and went for live entertainment (w00t)

It seems to have worked so far.............

hello, have you tried leaving the radio on? in my experience dogs gain comfort from this, to the point where they are distracted as if they are not alone. I also think the Kong warning from the maufacturer is really just covering themselves, although others might disagree with me. :))

Tracy,

We bought a traditional shape Kong and also a teething Kong, which are blue for puppies instead on red. The teething Kong is a cylinder shape with grooves along the outside. You can also buy a spray, like the whipped cream, which can be added to the grooves.

:luck:

Glad the new edition Jake has made Ollie happier when your not around.

Think Ollie was trying to tell you all along he needed a playmate.

You must be thrilled with Jake, he looks gorgeous.

Edited to say

Hi mazza,

Yes it was, and boy how that time has flown (w00t)

Things are great here, the boys are brilliant together, it was definitely the right decision! Jake is wonderful in that he is so chilled all the time, a very laid back boy, and this has done Ollie no end of good.

From day one of having Jake and leaving them in the crate there was not a murmur from either of them (mind you I had to go out and buy a bigger crate!) Ollie isn't in the slightest bit stressed at being left as long as he has Jake with him.

Must take some new pics and post them.........

Ooh, as far as Kongs go, definitely a Friend. The boys love them (w00t)
