I don't know how everyone else felt but I had a brilliant weekend. I do hope that one or preferably both organisations work something out to adopt and secure this track. The owner is keen to accomodate us and I think we have the potential of securing a permanent track that could be made to the finest standard whilst giving us all an environment where our children can have so much fun and we can all enjoy a 'whippet racing holiday'.

The facilities were brilliant, especially the kids park

A personal thank you to Vicky & Mark for their hospitality and their children Daniel, Robyn and Ruby along with Lisa's children and Keith's extended family who all teamed up with Sam and Maddie giving them a brilliant camping weekend where they didn't want to come home. :)

well said we had a great weekend there was loads to get involved in and her was plenty of room for everyone. i think all the kids had a great time wich makes it a beter weekend for the parents ;) along side this the track was really good. However there was one bad thing the pub wasnt quite big enough to fit all of us plus bikers and the regulars. mind you through at the country and wesern bar that looked gurd we could have joined them haha  . also wehn coming from the pub there was a long walk with no lights to guide you down which i culd of dun with when i got lost walking down and nearly went into the carnival

Kate, count yourself lucky! I heard Gilbert fell in a ditch although I suspect it wasn't to do with the lighting as apparently he was laughing his head off!

we only whent for the day but the place was fab and somewere even teanage kids could have a good time without getting board hope it works out perminat. i have to say though i was tempted to cross over and go play with the motorbikers instad of the whippets some nice looking bikers and the bikes themslevs were ok. hope we get to camp there soon carnt wait there was lots to hold my interst :-

there was plenty to keep the younger generation occupied, and the older one's by all accounts the entertainment was spot on , it would be worth holding on to a a venue like this, well done all concerened

Sorry to have to disagree but think the track was in a terrible state, think if we was to secure this venue the track would need A LOT of work. Dont think the facilities were up to much either. Yeah there was a lot of other things to keep people entertained but we go to race dogs so surely that should be the top priority.

I am afraid i too didnt think the facilities were all that great :( They were a long way away, and the fact that there we no showers readily available to us etc, the pub was very small and cramped when mixing with the other holiday makers.

Obviously none of this is the fault of the NNWRF committee, neither was the poor weather which lead to the field being a bit swamp like, i appreciate how hard they worked to get the track and field even to the standard it was and they deserve praise for securing the site for us especially when you look at the alternatives.

I dont mean to slate them or the site, as i think there is massive potential but lots of work is needed, but on the plus side the owner is keen to make this site our home, we have a great team of whippeters in the A&T Gang close at hand and a committee willing to work hard and make the changes and we have lots of time to do it, but there really are lots of things that need to be looked at before people claim that this site and track was fantastic!!

Thought I'd clarify my post as it's being misconstrued.

Personally, I don't think we did a bad job of the track considering it was around the 10th March 2009 when this venue was considered.

The fact is all decent tracks aren't made in months, it's years and usually with permanent fencing around.

Definately Jac, you only had to look at the rest of the field to see how much work you guys had put in to get the track to the standard it was!

Not being funny but the type of grass that is on that field is not the best to make a bowling green out of either, so like i said in the circumstances you guys and the committee did well but IF this track were to be secured for the future lots would need to be done!

Forget listing all the faults folk :( ,think of the hard work that a few whippet racers did to ensure we had somewhere to run.Wonder what they are thinking when they read this :( We all know the weather leading up to the champs was miserable, and didn't help matters,we also all know it was on agricultural land,so a bowling green was out of the question.I've been to 3 events on the straights this year.Blidworth, where the rumours about the condition of the track did the circuit prior to the event. Then we went to Barleylands, where low and behold again folk moaned about the ground being hard, and now the champs.Maybe, because i've run at lurcher events in the past,i've learnt not to expect a bowling green. But to come on here and slate peoples hard work is taking the p... Remember these people do the best they can,in sometimes difficult circumstances. Why don't you congratulate them for what they achieved in a short period of time, and wish them well in improving the venue for the future.I know I do

I think David H made a similar suggestion of changing the grass if a long term situation was secured.

Not being funny guys but it is taking the **** to expect to pay £12 a year membership, have a weeks camping for £30 and expect a bowling green track and facilities to please everyone. My own opinion is that if someone is offering to accomodate us then we should be honoured. It's a new business venture for the owner who has been spending and renovating and I imagine as popularity increases, they will consider expanding the pub.

There are nightclub's down the road in Southport and to be honest I think some of you would be better off going there, not just because it's probably better suited but they have better facilities for individuals who like to do D&D on a weekend.

If people wouldn't of took the **** in the past then venues that have tracks that have been used for a long time would not have been lost . The way I look at it beggers can't be choosers these days . Th NNWRF & A&T miners hhave done a lot of hard work to get things right the last thing they want to here is complaints .show some GRATITUDE !

haha thank god it wasnt me falling in the river unless id probs be stil there now lol  and how were the facilities to far away you all have legs haha it wasnt exactly miles away and at least they had facilities unlike some places, thers no need to pick faults about things like that  i though it was a great venue with only a a few minor errors everything else was fine ;)

Sorry but i cant see where i slated peoples hard work. Im not saying they didnt work hard but to come on and say the track was fantastic and facilities great is just not true. Before we left to come down I didnt know we would be running in a cow field!!!!!!!!!!!

Im sure a lot of work was put into the track and yes it was better than the rest of the field but if champs were to be there next year then a lot of work would have to be done. If this was the case at least now theres plenty time to get work done for next year.

You slated it by saying track was terrible . 3 hard weeks graft gone into getting it runnable from what I can gather no injured dogs , I could be wrong though . If it was that bad you should of made your statement by pulling your dog out !

my opinion is the track will get better each year ( if fenced off ),remember asfordby the first couple of years a lot of people complained about that.but with a lot of work by the committee it improved to a very good standard :)

hope the owner of the venue dosnt take it personal if hes reading the comments or that choice of keeping this venue may not be a choice the at members did a great job with the track no one can control the weather makes me wonder why we bother

the track wasnt perfect but still better than a lot of tracks around the country given the time allwed to get it ready id say it was ok :( and if this venue is kept im sure with more work from people it will be spot on ;) cant see any venue to better it myself ;)
