(w00t) I think everybody should go lurcher racing for a year and then come back into non ped's, they wouldn't be complaining about any track then. Every event

Steve and I have attended has been great and we have thoroughly enjoyed our self's, ;)

Life is to short, lets just get on and race our talented little creatures. (My Opinion) for what it's worth. Di

Bang on Di, or better still, get off their butts and go and help the organisers to make the tracks better, there's only so much you can do with the ground that is given to you. If you want a bowling green, then get your balls out :b

Speaking of balls, I've got one as big as a jacket potato at the moment (w00t) , its bloody hard work going up and down the track with a big roller.

i agree i have helped out at a few lurcher meets trust me you will know about racing in a cow field if you dont like what is on offer then you have a choice of dont run your dogs or find the nearest bowling green and play with your bowls nobody is forcing any one to race on a track they dont like you could always go and make you own in fact the more tracks we have the better it is for all

We would like to thank the NNWRF & A&T Miners for their hard work to make the weekend a success when the venue had to be changed at short notice. We personally felt the venue was ideal for families with children as there was plenty of activities for them. There was alot of activites and we especially enjoyed the bingo!! It is nice to have facilities such as a club so that people have the choice whether they use it or not.

The track was in good condition and showed the hard work put in by everyone when you looked at the rest of the field. If we had not been happy with the track we would not have run our dog especially coming back from a bad injury.

Once again thanks to the NNWRF & A&T Miners for making the weekend enjoyable.

VICKYYOU ARE OBVIOUSLY REFERING TO OUR TWO BIT JAN KEEBLE WEEKEND.

PLEASE CONSIDER

HOW MANY OPENS CARRY AN EXTRA GRAND PRIZE MONEY.

A FANTASTIC ARRAY OF TROPHIES COMPARABLE WITH ANY OPEN.

WE HAD A PROBLEM WITH THE SHORT RUN OFF BECAUSE THIS WAS A CHANGE OF VENUE AT RELATIVELY SHORT NOTICE.WE COULD HAVE RUN AT THURROCK WHERE WE COULD CATER FOR 200YDS BUT OUT OF OUR HANDS WE COULDNT CAMP.WE DIDNT WANT TO DISSAPPOINT ANY WHIPPETEERS WHO HAD BOOKED THE WEEKEND OFF AND THE COMMITEE AND MEMBERS WORKED HARD TO GET THE TRACK TO A DECENT LEVEL IT WASNT UP TO OUR NORMAL HIGH STANDARDS.

BUT ANSWER ME WHY DID YOU RUN YOUR PUP MO CARLIN AND HUNKY ON SUCH CONDITIONS.

WHY DID YOU RUN MOCHARA IN THE JAN KEEBLE AND THEN ON THE MONDAY WHERE SHE SKATED THE SHEILA WEBB CHARITYOPEN.

WHY ARE YOU WHINGING NOW INSTEAD OF LETTING YOUR FEELINGS KNOWN TO COMMITEE MEMBERS WHO WHERE CLEARING UP ON MONDAY OR TUESDAY AFTER RACING.

IVE ALREADY THANKED THE NNWRF COMMITEE AND WORKERS FOR SUCH A GREAT WEEKEND RACING IN EXCELLANT SURROUNDINGS.PEOPLE ARE ENTITLED TO THERE OPINIONS WHICH WE DONT AGREE WITH BUT THATS LIFE.MAKING DETRIMENTAL REMARKS ABOUT OTHER OPENS IS COUNTERPRODUCTIVE AND DOESNT TAKE WHIPPET RACING FORWARD IN MY OPINION.
WELL SAID ROB
To answer your questions Rob

Mo Chara was only entered at Thurrock (just come back from injury at that point) after Mark and quite a few others put extra water on the track, Hunkie wasn't raced all weekend because i knew he couldn't stop in that distance. I did speak to Thurrock members about my feelings over the 3 days.

Coming home and slating the event on here would have been detrimental - you'll notice i didn't do that. Certainly wasn't implying Jan Keeble was a 2 bit open when quite clearly there was brilliant sponsorship put into the event.

I'm not interested in getting into tit for tat with you, all i was trying to get across was people run their 40mph dogs on less than perfect tracks week in week out and suddenly because it's a champs perfection is all that will do.

I dont normally get into these kind of things but I have to say Iv never ever got home from a championship weekend without Danny (Gold Run) having an injury of some sorts even if it was just his feet or shoulder etc but I took him this year and it was decided after winning his title by myself and Sam we would run him until he was knocked out by a better dog or told us he had enough.

Danny is 5 and a half years old and after 4 runs on the track has came home with not even a scratch so that speaks volumes to me.

I didnt stay all weekend so cant comment on the pub or showers but I can say it is one of my favourites along with Scotland and Aycliffe Ayr.

Jackie

Well done to you all.

I think its a shame that constructive critisism is taken so badly, No one has slagged anyone off for their work. I am sure with time the track will improve. The moisture in the ground certainly helps to soften it and reduce injuries.

Its also unfair that people say " well don't run your dog then" cause trainers spend hundreds and hours in the weeks upto the champs on oesteopaths, exercise, fuel, camping etc and to turn up after hours of driving to withdraw is not something anyone would do unless absolutely necessary for safety.

After every event is it not wise to look at what can be improved next time?

I think we all understand on whippet racing budgets me are unlikely to achieve perfection though.

With regard to the track it wasn't "perfect" but to be frank any dog that couldn't act on that track would perhaps be better kept on a lead. The soil in that locality is known as "black sand" because it's very much like sand in the way it behaves. No matter how dry the track gets it will not bake hard because the underlying soil will always be powdery like sand unlike clay type soils which will bake as hard as concrete. It's also easy to roll flat which, with the softness, probably accounts for the low injury rate at champs. Nothing could be done about the longer amplitude bumps in the time allowed nor the type of grass but as above if you've a dog that can't run on such minor imperfections it says more about the dog than the track.

With regard to facilities; I'm sure there are places with better facilities but not for the sort of money available. Those with children thought it better than most other champs tracks facilities because their was plenty to keep them occupied but this possibly isn't a concern of everyone. I thought the bar was OK. For those who wanted something more exciting Southport isn't far away. I'm not sure that those who don't find plush night time entertainment a necessity should have to subsidise the minority who find such things important by paying more for the site in the first place.

People always moan; If champs were run at a site with better facilities for all they'd moan at the cost.

Well put tony ! I think majority enjoyed it . With the response with more work they would be happy to go again !

i just wish i had been there but unfortunaly i was too ill :(

i thought it was great ;)

me 2 gary i dunno what they all complaining bout man   only 1 thing i could hear u snoring from where i was parked -_- -_-

once again id like to say fab weekend the park was the best me n my mate tyne were in there for hours on friday night haha n sata morning 2, then she went to taste the apple pie she sed it was yummy

Your right Anth, constructive critiscism, shouldn't be taken badly, and I don't think would be,but think it would be better waiting a while before giving it.It just seemed impolite to give it immediatley after. With a couple of weeks break,I'm sure it would have been better recieved by the people who did all the work leading up to the champs. The words TACT and MANNERS come to mind ;)

 well wot can i say u carnt please some people if you thought the track was so bad then why not pull your dogs out me and my family had a great weekend and a lot of hard graft went into getting the track ready in such a short time i dont know why people couldnt voice there opinions when they were at the venue instead of slateing everything on here.

Nice 1st post nat . Hope you become a member of our club A&T MINERS

well here we go again look i think in the time you had the workers did a great job  and im sure every member thanks you all. but the track does need more work you must say and the weather did help but i had three dogs injured on the monday out of four with just 2 days dry and im all for the venue but do agree it needs work.

If people think that members of A&T thought the track was substanderd I can asure you we would of said so ! At our club we have some top class dogs , and I know for a fact they would not run them if track was not up to scratch . I think this should be put to bed now .
