I like this time of year, my three Lilac trees look stunning when in

full flower, shame they dont last a bit longer..

I love lilacs too. Especially the whites. They are heavenly at this time of year. We've got one next to our front door, but as it acts as a 'privacy board' we have to keep trimming it so it doesn't encroach the path and doorway and never flowers. Shame really, but it does make a wonderful natural screen.

I grew up surrounded by 13 lilac trees , all purple but for one double white ,

The smell takes me back to when I was a little girl , cos when it was hot and sunny I had to sit under the lilacs out of the sun . I dont have a white one in my garden , but the neigbour next door has one at the front of the house right next to my drive , I really must try to find a double white , and of course some room in my garden for it

I also have a dwarf lilac

They're gorgeous Ann. They don't half make mine look tiny though. I put mine in about three years ago to replace a californian lilac which I lost. Must say I like these much more.

When i moved into this house more than 20 years ago the White was already here,

it was massive and spread right across the garden. So it was chainsawed to the

ground but as you can see it came back :lol:

So i got the two purples to keep it company.

Love both Lillac and Hyacinth both of which I am very allergic too.

i just love lilacs..the smell is just....

i have a white lilac at the back and still in bloom,smells lovely againt the chicken coop

the nextdoor neighbour has a pink one at the front coming out of bloom

different colours bloom at different times so we can have their lovely smell for longer
