glad Louise has got nice outgoing friends to share with, I'll be ringing my niece, Emma tomorrow to see how she got on at Huddersfield today............don't think she's ever cleaned the bath in her life, but I think there is a cleaning service in the accomodation price.

You'll love the tour of Anfield, but if you haven't got much time to fit things in, go to Evertons trophy room, it won't take you long !

We toured Anfield and the set of the old Kop was good, the silver is amazing, but when you see all their shirts hanging on pegs in the changing room they are not actually the ones they wear. Years ago they used to keep the away teams changing room cold to get them off to an uncomfortable start

Even for a non-footy fan the tunnel entrance to the pitch is full of emotion.

OH's dads ashes are scattered in front of the goal at the Kop end as they went to all the matches together for years, OH will tell you how the concrete floor of the Kop used to bounce with the weight of all the dancing fans (w00t)

I'm quite attached to my accent, wherever I go people tape it, narrow minded people just think you're thick and can't believe scousers can be well educated...their loss !

Are the dogs looking arund for Louise ?

forgot to say, when I went to town today I was stopped in the car park by a dad with a map asking me directions for............

Great Newton Hall (w00t) I would never have heard of it before you told me Louise was staying there, he was bringing his daughter/son up (from out of Liverpool)

what a coincidence :D

That was really strange Julie meeting someone asking for directions...Great Newton Hall is in Great Hewton Street

Forgot to tell you my OH drove me through the city on the way home past the Uni buildings and guess where we ended up, going through Allerton...wow it is a lovely area...the parks and houses were all really nice.. Did you say you were quite near that area...??

I thoroughly enjoyed my mini tour, and intend going back definitely...

Thanks for the info on the Kop.. I will pass this to my sister and her partner...they have already started asking Louise about match tickets... :- " and programmes...

yes, Allerton is nice, you may have driven past me as I waited on Allerton rd for Sophie at her maths class !

Woolton is a lovely place next to Allerton, then Gateacre is next to Woolton. We came second in the small villages in bloom competition, Woolton always come first, but it all looks fab when the flowers are all out on a sunny day.

I'll show you where all the footballers live when you next come and we've got some beautiful parks, it's not all terraced streets like on 'Bread' :D

You must tell Louise to go to a shop called HOME/BARGAINS, there's one on Allerton Rd, one in the city on Bold ST and another in the city in Lord St opposite BHS. She can fill up on supplies of food basics and toiletries for a fraction of the cost in the supermarkets.

Just came back from a walk down by the river with Ella, watching all the planes coming in. Paul had us slurping through the mudflats :x and when it got too deep he had us scrambling up a concrete water slope back to the path, I think he thinks I'm in the forces or something :- "

Julie thanks for that..we actually sussed a Home Bargain shop out for her...right opposite her accomodation...and bought a few items just to let her see what was in there..

dont think shes ever been food shopping till now... :huggles:

I will keep in touch with you, as you sound a minefield of usefull information.. Thank you :huggles:

Im laughing at you scrambling up the mudflats.. Ive spent my day in DIY shops.. :( looking for paint and exciting stuff like that... we are on with our bathroom...god Im sick of it now...

Have the best years of your life there Louise, I did!! I was in Derby & Rathbone Hall, spent many an hour at Home & Bargins on Allerton Road, and Woolton cinema.... do they still have the old fashioned icecream lady in the intermission?

I was at the wedding of one of my best friends yesterday in Surrey, who I met at Liverpool Uni in 1992!

Hi Ann, I was in L,pool Uni in '92 (what did you do there ?)

The owner of Woolton cinema died recently and it was closed, but due to much support a donor kindly kept it open (since John Lennon used to go there) and the ice cream lady still sells at 1/2 time but the freezer cabinet is too heaavy to go around her neck !

they are the most comfy seats in any cinema!
