Hi there,

(sorry, i've posted this under lurchers & whippets)

I'm hoping to appeal to all you Greyhound lovers out there :D

I need help rehoming Meg (well, thats the name i've given her...). Nothing is known about her background, except that the dog warden has picked her up in Marton, Cleveland.

I rescued Meg from Waterfall Kennels (a real hell-hole!), in Guisborough yesterday.

She had only been in the kennels a few days, but had no bedding only a concrete floor and really long nails that were difficult for her to stand on.

We went straight to the vets for a manicure & check-up to confirm that shes fit and well. The vet places her age anywhere between 3 & 7 years, and is unsure as to wether she is spayed - he couldn't find a scar.

She is a proper little lady and has obviously been someones pet. She jumped straight in the back of my car and laid down all the way home. She didn't even flinch having a bath, knows sit & paw etc... her behaviour makes my dog look like a little devil in comparison, she really is perfectly well behaved!

She loves other dogs, children and even my cat

I am fostering her for Saltburn Animal Rescue (S-A-R-A), who had no space to take her in. Problem is shes a bit too big for my house :(

If anyone is interested in meg please e-mail me for further details. Any vaccinations etc required will be paid for by S-A-R-A

The attached picture was taken by the kennels - i will download some more from my camera later today, She looks so much better for a good wash and a rest! :)

 Meg is so lovely - she really will make a perfect pet!

Aw, she looks really nice. What a shame you can't keep her (sounds like you're fond already!!)

Good luck rehoming. I like greyhounds but they are just too big for me - we have a greyhound pal called Joe and when he runs up to say Hello to us it sounds like a thunderstorm approaching! He's great, but he comes up to my hip (w00t)

edited to ask what happened when you went to see Didi and Bambi a few weeks ago??

Actually I kept a photo - here she is - I think shes just gorgeous.

I've not yet met Polly, shes with another foster carer. I should see her on saturday - on the first saturday of every month s-a-r-a take a selection of dogs requiring homes to the saltburn band stand for people to meet, i'll be taking Meg, fingers crossed someone will want to give her a home :luck:

Tens nose is well out of joint having her in his house! shes too big for him to boss about!

moo does the greyhound not have ear marks so her last owner or trainer can be traced?

She has no ear marks at all, but is microchipped & registered to an address down south. her owners no longer live there though :( and are so far untraceable.

If they lived in our area and were looking for her they should have been in touch with the dog wardens, vets and local charities - all of which have been notified about her...

Shes been trying to eat our easter eggs today!

Just noticed the qu about Bambi & Didi.

Didi found a nice new home the very same week :D

Bambi as far as i know has some people interested in her, so save our strays decided to keep her in the guisborough area for visiting (my house is 16 or so miles away). She may well be in her new home already - i'll check next week

Anyway - i'm taking Little & Large out for an easter picnic... just hope the weather doesnt get any worse!

Brilliant! Glad to hear that SARA got her, we were trying to find space for her too. I'm assuming she is a lurcher, no tattoos?

Will take her off the emergency list, thanks

Jules

Presumably shes a greyhound/lurcher, i've got no idea how to tell! :b no tatoos either.

Shes started to liven up a bit the last few days, shes so sweet - when Ten  gets excited hes like a cannon ball of destruction! Meg just wags her tail and makes a cute little warbling noise

heres some pics of her today - chilling out next to Ten and the pair of them begging for easter treats....

Meg looks really nice  I am beginning to like her a lot. Perhaps get her to stand by a door and mark her height in pencil (then measure with tape) - she doesn't look all that big, but then I don't know how big Ten is. I'd be interested to know her height. I think most people measure to the shoulders. She looks like she has quite a long body.

So glad that Didi found a home  and I hope lovely Bambi has too. That pic you posted was gorgeous.

nooooooooo... noooooooo... :b

but I have decided that I am going to get a second whippet after my summer holidays :teehee:

At a guess i'd put her around the 26" mark.

I'll measure her when she wakes up - shes completeley worn herself out at the beach!! :))

She met the full gang today - thats Ten and my sisters three dogs.

Heres some more pics....

Oh dear, poor megs got a cough! :(

She doesn't seem too affected by it but she has to take antibiotics and Benolyn for a while.

Shes making herself very at home! this is the scene that greeted me when i got home yesterday :huggles: but thats another set of covers to change - i've got no matching ones left!

Ten usually sleeps on the covers which is fine-ish - but if meg manages to get into the bedroom she goes straight for the pillows  She's definately been a pampered pooch at some point - that or  whippet is leading her astray :p

If anyone who lives in the area wants to meet Meg - we'll be at the bandstand in Saltburn from 9am on saturday with the other dogs from SARA.

hehehe look at them crashed out on the bed, our entire bitch greyhound flora likes the bed but tends to "mark" it as her own :S which isnt nice really....

so now she dont get upstairs....

shes about 26 at the shoudler for reference by the way and very similiar in shape and build to meg, dont they look awkward when they sit !!!

took us 11 months to get flora to sit so someone must have had patience to get PAw as well !!!

flora.jpg

Flora is lovely

Ha ha  they do look funny when they sit! 11 months to get a laugh :p

Ten learnt sit and paw at seven weeks - but i think whippets will do anything for food!

I measured Meg the other day and she is 26" at the shoulder.

Meg is still looking for a new home :(

Her and ten are getting far to attached - literally!
