Very difficult to tell if any of them will look like dad - there are three pale ones two of which are becoming quite hairy. The colour is generally grey with some yellow underneath. I believe Basil looked something like this when he was the same age.

As for the question of working, Socks is very keen on coursing given the chance - very quite indoors etc but scans the horizon for anything to chace as soon as you take her out. She's caught quite a bit and I have no reason to believe the pups won't be equally keen.

what has she caught m8? rabbit,hare etc? as for the pups looking like the parents i have found in past litters that they generaly throw more to the looks of the grandparents than there sire an dam. thats just from my experiance m8.

Rabbit and hare. We have lived on two farms for most of the time since we had her as a pup and used to walk her around the rabbitty areas, knowing that bunny won't travel too far. Hares were always a risk as they would cross the lanes so we tried to keep her off them, but she would sometimes see one before we did and off she would go - very exciting! She caught some of them too but as she was on her own most escaped. No shortage of keenness! She had a squirrel the other day. However, given a good shout she will stop and she does come back.

Hopefully the puppies will be the same - we are keeping one and should enhance the odds if we have two at at once.

I tend to agree Alec, re the genes thing as in Basils first litter, the majority of the pups were black or that dark iron grey with a silvery top coat, which is just what Rosie, Basils mum has. However, there were 3 out of the 11 that were more like Dad than either their Mum or Granny and were definitely blonder.

Is price really the most important issue? We're asking the same as we paid for Socks four years ago and that litter of 12 were all sold.

Having never had puppies before I'm amazed at the speed at which they are growing and developing. They are such fun now that they are running around and playing together, albiet very hard work looking after them.

We have homes for six - everyone who came to see them has bought one - so there are five still available.

I agree that price is not the most important issue - finding good loving homes should be the most important issue and at least by asking a decent amount of money for puppies you are more likely to get genuine buyers than if you try to sell pups for a sum of say £50 - I feel that by asking a sum such as this you are attracting people who may well see £50 as being easier to part with than say £180 and therefore the pups may go to people who are not so concerned with a pups welfare and more likely to think "ah well, it only cost £50 might as well get one".

Wasnt trying to appear heartless and not caring, as both my lurchers are rescues, youd be hard pushed to call me that! No, i was only commenting on market forces. As most people on this forum are more into the wippet world, where prices are that much higher, then £180 seems cheap, but if you look at the ads in countrysports papers, the average price is lower than that. Thats all i was trying to say, not slurring anyone or anything.

New pictures.

The ones still available are the small mink coloured dog who is getting lighter as he grows and the four similar black, brown and white ones, two of each sex.

These pups are so gorgeous - can't wait to pick my little chap up on Saturday! I hope the 5 beauties left find a loving permanent home for life very soon - I love the black one in the photo but having seen them all "in the fur" I can honestly say what a smashing litter this is and anyone who is looking for a lurcher pup won't go far wrong with choosing one of the five currently awaiting a new home.
