West Somerset are hosting a lure coursing event on Taunton Polo ground on Sunday, November 18th. Everyone welcome peds, non-peds, lurchers etc. Please not that entry to the ground is via the old entrance by the side of the club house. For accurate directions and a map,(sat navs are unreliable down here!), ring Margaret on 01749 346428

Do you know if they are coming out of slips please Julia, or just being hand slipped ?? :)

Have always thought the Polo club is a good field for Lure coursing (w00t) :) (w00t) (w00t)

What time does is 1st course?,booking in time. Is it a loop system or Zig-Zag system?

The slipper for the lure coursing will be Brian Pether. It will be great to see him as and use to slip my greyhounds in the "old days!" Entry is £5 per dog in 16 dog stakes. Please ring Pat Quant on 01823 252303 to enter lurchers. Whippet entries to me, via e mail, or phone 01454 228676.

There will also be straight racing for whippets on the whippet track at £2 per dog.

I hope you all have a great day .....I'd loved to have had Vinnie with a slipper, but we have quite a few entered for Cotswolds, so once again, the meet must go on

First dogs in slips @11 00. The turf will be rolled and the kickboards removed and the rain that is forecast for midweek should make the going idealThe course will be zig zag, not looped. It would also be much appreciated if you could bring a bottle for the raffle.

Will the dogs losing in the 1st round get another run? Also will there be trials for the lure coursing?

Sorry Barabara, because of the time factor and the event starting late in the day the card will be run as a straight knockout competition. There will be 16 dog lurcher stakes so unfortunately there be no time for trials or matches either. Margaret will be trialling on the whippet track so there will be opportunity for matches there.

Thanks Julia. It's not for me as I'm off to South Cotswolds with the pup it's for a couple of people who have new to lure coursing whippets. I said that I'd ask for them.

All the best with the event.

I think Julia took some pictures today, the rain stopped just as the first dogs were being slipped and started as we were all heading home. I think the whippets suprised a few of the lurcher folk (w00t)
