I finally got to posting the pictures! Sorry Rae, no action shots but I was in the middle of the course holding red and white flags! Huge congratulations to Rae and Supe: he won in great style. Reserve Champion was Sue Meecham's Vensuter Almond , who is by Supe's grandad, so it was a real family affair.

The lurcher folk made us SO welcome, and we had a fantastic day despite the weather. The course was very safe and differed from the B.S.F.A, in that gates (gaps) were placed on the straight to each turn, which the dogs had to pass through in order to gain 2 points. Judges were placed at each gate and raised the appropriate flag to show that the dog had passed through. The first dog over the line scored an extra point to determine the winner in the event of both dogs scoring equal points. Some inexperienced dogs over ran the turn initially and missed the gates, but Supe never put a paw wrong, despite never coursing like this before, and followed the lure closely all the way.

Dorset lurchers hold fun days like this one on a monthly basis. I have details if anyone is interested. I believe there is a meeting before Xmas and another in the New Year, which I shall do my best to attend. It's fun, fantastic excercise for dogs and handlers, and makes an great alternative to straight racing.
