I love this wee man, was gonna try and steal him home with me today, but no chance.

Well done to yous both  I can see that i am going to have to put a raceing page on my site soon. :) hes looking so well

thanks everybody - the second photo is better posed, but it wasn't a show we at. We won our heat and were second in the finals of the whippet racing at the game fair at Randalstown, Co Antrim. That's why his breeder. Viv, suggests adding a racing page (as soon as Buffy Ranoch gets an action photo for us!). My dog did run very well last weekend and I just wish we had more opportunities for whippet racing here.

Well done Philippa & ?......sorry i can't remember your dogs name  There must have been quite a few whippets there to race if they had to divide them into heats? Would have loved to have been there and been able to give our girl a run but she's just had a beautiful litter of puppies so was on maternal duties instead (w00t)

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!

Is this Jills half brother

Yes, Keith, I believe so, both sired by C. Silver Jigilo, a show dog. Have you raced Jill?

Congratulations :D

Is this the lad that looked rather fleet of foot @ Scotland the other year ?

Whoopeee !!!

I’m happy to report that Tintreach reached second in the Shane’s Castle finals again this year. There are some good photos in the lurcher section: see

the last two photos in the first message, dog in blue coat, in the

finals at Shane's Castle on Sat.

Both of my dogs won their heats and went on to the finals, and the

older won was second in the final just as he did last year.

flying in a blue jacket in the first photo

18 whippets competed in three heats and the first and second in each heat went in for the finals. I have a younger whippet who also reached the final so I was delighted. The course is over 300 yards long I believe, and it has an unfortunate hump in it. Last year I think there were even more whippets with 4 heats but only 3 race-winners competed in the final. Sometimes slower or less experienced dogs lose sight of the rag at the hump and start playing instead of chasing, so at last year’s event they didn’t all finish their races. So although last year’s final was a fast race led by super nonped Ernie, this year I thought the overall quality of the whippet races was better this year.

And yes, Fleesh, that was the pup who got some valuable training at Kirkcaldy Derby a couple of years ago, although being a pedigree he wasn't fast enough to race your dogs. At the lurcher races in Ireland all sorts of whippets just race together, no handicaps, hand-slipped.
