Today I decided that I would trust Scrumpy "home alone" for the first time. Usually whenever we are out of the house, she goes into her indoor crate. Today, I went out for an hour and just left her with the other 2 dogs. As I drove off I looked back & there she was, at the window watching me go. One hour later I came back and......... NOTHING. BRILLIANT. o:)

So we went out tonight to do the Christmas shop and left her again... for 2 hours.

Once again..... NOTHING. GREAT. o:)

Now, does this mean that she's trustworthy, or is she just waiting for the right moment to totally trash the room? (w00t)

We shall have to wait & see.

Em...yes! Reckon she's lulling you into a false sense of security  All the best :luck:

I don't know how you can do it.I would be worried all the time I was out :sweating: and I would have my hands over my eyes on my return. You are so brave.

Wow..it's such a good feeling when you can leave them on their own and come back to everything as you left it. My two are 100% trustworthy and never damage a thing and have the run of the house when we are out. However, this does come with age and maturity...and it's difficult knowing when the right time has come to trust them on their own.

Good luck...long may it continue :luck: :D

UPDATE- well, four days later and Scrumpy hasn't been in her indoor crate since. We have been out quite a lot over the last few days and the longest she's been left was today-4.5 hrs. As long as she's had a really good long walk (2 hrs ) then she's tired enough to sleep once we go out. Maybe I'll get my front room back to normal soon, although the crate is quite handy for dumping stuff on top of, it's like an extra table!!

Hear hear

my two still are not 100% proof to be left alone - they are left at tops for 3-4 hours - but usually come home to something torn up, shredded, ripped or chewed ........ I do hope it gets better with age. :- "

Well, to mark the new year tomorrow, the indoor cage is being folded up. Hopefully it won't be needed again (well not till the next pup anyway). Since we stopped leaving her in it Scrumpy has been so good o:) and not touched a thing when we've been out. I always leave a few old bits of paper in the bin in case she gets the urge to shred something but she's not even done that. So, big success all round(spraying the room with liquid s**t :xon Boxing night doesn't count as she obviously couldn't help that) She'd not had the runs at all during the day but when we got in after a couple of hours next door (w00t) :x (w00t) :x Poor little girl was really upset :(

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE
