Hi everybody,

This is my first (though I'm sure not the last) whippet Monty. He's now 4 months old and adorable  .

Every time we go to the park Monty gets very sad when he sees all the other dogs running around free and happy while he has to stay on the lead.

Does anybody knows of somewhere in the Southampton area where whippets can run freely?

Sorry I can't help about the off lead walking as I don't live any where near you, but I do hope you find some where as they do so love a run :luck:

He absolutly lovely  ,same age ish as my boys. They go running around and recall at moment is good.We also have Hungarian Viszla who stays close so i think she helps.Hope u find somewhere soon!

lovely dog :huggles:

Just to say, i was reading up on pups and walking them etc

they suggested that by keeping your pup on a lead until you think they know you it has the opposite affect as when they are let off they know you are there and dont always come back...

They say that if you let them off the lead as soon as they can go out side they are more likely to stay next to you. you should keep hiding so they dont know if the next time they turn round you are still going to be there, If you notice they keep checking every few seconds.

most walks consit of them running and you following when on the lead they learn this.

I dont know if you get what im saying, but it worked with bean who has been of the lead from day one, and stays by my side or at least keeps close, i still pop behind a tree now and again to keep them on their toes

 long post
