Can someone explain why some of these dogs have 2 owners/showers. I'm not into showing but have noticed this recently. Thanks.

Usually because they owned in partnership with someone they are often owned in partnership with their breeder.

Thanks for reply but why would you do this. Once you had bought the puppy surley you would want to gain wins in your own name. The dogs affix would show who the breeder is.

For lots of reasons I exspect but you would have to ask the people who do that for theirs, I only own one Italian Greyhound and she's all mine

Sometimes the new owner hasn't an affix and the breeder wants to keep the chance of naming a litter with their kennel name if they should turn out good enough to breed from, others are sold on breeding terms, meaning a pup or two back to the original breeder, so they keep their name on for same reasons.

Some of the partnerships shown may be either non married relationships with each other...or parent and child partnerships

The reasons for two names owning a dog is huge

certainly is clair and sometimes breeders just cant bear to part with the dog so keep an interest by going into partnership with the new owner which is what my friend in ireland did with her akita

Breeders can also register a dog in partnership to protect the dog from being sold on into unscrupulous hands should the partnership fall out for any reason, since both owners must sign registration forms before the dog can be transferred.

Or they may do it to prevent the dog being used at stud to unsuitable bitches, or a bitch being bred to an unsuitable dog- basically it can protect a breeder's bloodlines

Or it may be that two friends join forces to share costs, stud fees etc...

It does not necessarily mean that the breeder wants a puppy back or has any unfair intentions, but it does mean that the dog is protected if, for instance, the new owner turns out not to be everything they claimed to be when buying a puppy. If a puppy is sold outright, the breeder has no option to step in if anything goes wrong... :(

Thanks for all your answers. I'm a little wiser now.
