Molly decided without hesitation that she wished to sleep with Jinny and me and so she spent last night sleeping by my side
Bless her heart, what a darling    Sounds like she wasn't going to let you out of her sight!

Hallo everyone :D Thought you might like an update on Molly's first 24 hours in Jinnyfizzland at Scruples

After she had her dinner last night (she loves rabbit!!!) she crashed out on the sofa until it was time for a last wee/poo before bedtime. Becka stayed and once she was safely in bed with her Niisyf gang (4 of them) my lot went into their normal routine of going outside and then indoors to whichever bed, sofa or dog bed they choose to sleep in or on

Molly decided without hesitation that she wished to sleep with Jinny and me and so she spent last night sleeping by my side

She got up this morning and joined in with the morning walk around the fields and then had her breakfast - another chicken wing with some goats milk and scrambled egg to boot :D

For the rest of today she has been joining in with sunbathing in the garden, watching the other have some lure practice (Dawn and Rob came over with Benson, their home bred lad to introduce him to the lure today) and when Becka left around 4pm today, Molly wasn't stressed to see her go even thought it was obvious how attached she had become to Becka in a very short space of time.

This little girl gives her love totally unconditionally and is the most affectionate, calm and sensible whippet I have ever met - absolutely perfect.

She is going to my vet tomorrow for a scan/xray to check the size of the pups and her general health. The pups are moving around very actively but Molly doesn't seem to be stressed about it at all. What a dear little dog she is

Rest assured that Millymollymandy (as she is now affectionately known :D ) will be having the BEST veterinary treatment possible and no expense will be spared to ensure that the birth of her puppies is as easy and safe as possible for her. If a C section is necessary, it will be done.

Becka and Dawn have both taken huge amounts of pictures and, no doubt, they will be posting them on K9 in due course ........ Dawn and Rob only left around 5.30 so it will be a while before Dawn gets home and sorts through all the pics she is allowed to post :- ........ I did ask her very nicely not to post the ones of my backside   :teehee:

Sorry this update is rather late in coming ........ we have had an incredibly busy 24 hours but all is settling down now and we can await the puppies' arrival with fingers crossed
Awww that's fantastic news Jane :) She seems to adapt to any situation put her way, bless her :huggles: She probably can't believe her luck to have landed in such a loving home :)

I am glag that Molly will be seeing a vet tomorrow. Not knowing how many or how large the pups are and if the due date is correct is a worry. So pleased that she remains happy and is setting in well. Sounds like a real typical sneeky whippet to me  she knows exactly what side HER bread is buttered on :p

Fingers crossed for good news tomorrow :luck: :luck: :luck:

So pleased to read that update - Molly sounds like an absolute darling

How wonderful that she is so laid back, she seems to be taking it all in her stride bless her  Mind you, she has probably had more kindness shown to her in the last few days than she has experienced in her entire life and probably, despite the long journey etc, feels more secure for it.

Hope all goes well with the vet tomorrow :luck:

 Glad all is well, :luck: :luck: Good luck for the vets tomorrow :))

.. we are also concerned that the pups might be too big for her to whelp on her own and
Fortunately, large breeds such as greyhounds have pups proportianally considerably smaller than Whippets. So fingers crossed that, even if their daddy is something big, Molly has enough in there to keep their size down. Can you feel any lumps?

 glad all is going well in fizzyland (w00t)

Jane i had an email today from Roger Nind, who is on the committe for honeyhills pedigree whippet racing club, they brought pooh tickets from us yesterday (w00t) anyway he has asked if he can add a link to the rescue on the honeyhills web site ;) i said you would be delighted

Hi Jane

What is the news from the vets? We are all waiting with bated breath ;)

She's having her scan at 9am tomorrow morning. I wanted my vet and the scanner in the same place at the same time and that is when I can have that!!

She is having a quiet day today - much more chilled and happy to let me move around the house without following me all the time :D

That is good news. It will put my mind at rest a bit once she has seen a vet.

I am not sure how much the scan will show as she is so far along but perhaps it will at least indicate the size of the pups if not the number.

I think that technically, she is due to whelp in 6 days time

Hope all goes well tomorrow :luck: :luck: :luck:

Thank you Jane and Trish for taking Molly to a place of safety, and thanks for the updates. Hope the scan goes well ... not long to go now

Jane will post details later but just wanted to let you know that Molly has had her x-ray and is fine. At least 4 pups are visible and she may be expecting 5 or 6, so not too many. Heart, pelvis, everything checked out fine. Watch out for Janes post ... she's got pics !!!
