Yesterday my son Neil his friend Ian, and 199 other teams left Hyde Park at 12.30. (w00t)

They all have a few things in common; they will be driving either a car with an engine under 1000cc, or a vehicle so ridiculous that the 1000cc rule is exempted, such as a milk float, an ice-cream van or a cherry-picker; (w00t) they will have raised at least £1000 for the charities that benefit from the Rally.

Their aim will be to arrive, via whichever route they wish, in UlaanBaatar, Mongolia by the 20th August; and none will have any form of backup or support aside from their own capabilities, natural charm and ability to source 20-year-old car parts at 4am in the Kazhak desert. :b

This evening he had got to the Czech Republic :sweating:

Check out their web site http://www.tescochainstoremanagers.co.uk

BRILLIANT..........i wish them well :luck: :luck: :luck:

Does Neil really where those glasses Garry?

Also I'm disappointed that a certain sponsor hasn't got a larger sticker on the vehicle. The sponsor I'm referring to is Business sponsors for The Tesco's Chainstore Managers

Fabulous sponsor name for two young males, I think although they might have got arrested in some countries. (w00t)

Hope that they make it to Mongolia. At least they've made the first party stop.

Great thing to do raise money for very worthwhile charities and have a fun adventure whilst doing so.

What a great adventure...I wonder if they'll still be looking that smart once they reach mongolia :D

:luck: :luck: :luck: :luck: :luck:

No Barbara they are plastic with no lenses-they think thats how Tesco chain store managers look

I didnt know they even knew how to tie a tie

They got to Vienna today probably look more like the texas chain saw masacre by now  the car seems to be holding up well for all its 24 years

The boys got to Varna Bulgaria (on the Black Sea) today. 8)

At least the car is holding up well  and they have only got pulled by police once (to my Knoledge) :b

Brilliant, how exciting. What an adventure.

I know my OH and his mates would love to do it

Oh Wow! I'd love to do do that. Good luck to the boys....err I mean Managers. Great name they've got  Nigel used to belong to a motorcycle racing team. They called them selves Team Wet Lettuce... No Sense, No Style. I used to push the bike around the paddock trying to bump start it and I also made a handy motorcycle stand when there was nothing else around to lean it on. Bet they have a great time. I'm really envious. Keep us informed Garry

DARK DAYS. OUR POOR CAR DOCUMENTATION HAS SCUPPERED US FOR THE FERRY FROM BAKU. PLANNED TO FLOG THE CAR AND JUMP IN WITH ANOTHER TEAM FOR THE FINAL STRETCH, BUT RIGHT-HAND DRIVE CARS ARE ILLEGAL IN AZER, SO NO JOY. LEFT LAST NIGHT BEFORE OUR CAR TAX RAN OUT AND SPENT NIGHT IN TBILISI. NOW HEADING FOR TURKISH BORDER AND CONSIDERING OUR OPTIONS. THE DREADED FAT LADY IS WARMING UP FOR HER BIG MOMENT

Next message 5 (minutes later)

....BUT SHE CAN WAIT HER TURN. WE'RE NOT FINISHED YET.
