I took these photos from my front garden this morning. Not much light about (or snow come to that) so they're a bit dull. It has only been a dusting of snow...but it's snow none the less :teehee:

A view down the terrace...you can make out the snowy hill in the background

A view down our road to the high street (I must get that shopping done :- " )

And a view to the village opposite....sorry it's a bill dull and not terribly sharp!

Nice pics - I like the contrast between the open hills and the terraced houses, makes a really nice contrast. Snowy conditions can frustrating to photograph.

Thanks Elizabeth. I feel i did get the exposure right on that pic, which I was quite pleased with. :) I've been trying out my fully manual mode for a week or two now, and it's beginning to come together. Thanks for commenting :)

I'm too lazy - I prefer to fiddle on the computer  (And if James as been being experimental on manual without telling me, I end up having to do a huge amount of fiddling :b  )

you lot are so lucky, all we got is frost and gale force winds

Lovely pictures Nicola

I really like that pictures of the roof tops  It reminds me of a book cover, can't remember the name of the book though :b

Did you manage to get out in the snow with Fred and Stan today ?

I hate the manipulation afterwards on the computer, so try and get better shots on the camera, using the histogram in the camera to see how I'm doing. For landscapes I tend to use an F16 aperture to get the required depth of field, and then mess about with shutter speeds & ISO's for correct lighting. Having said that a lot of mine are ending up underexposed, as I still get it wong 70% of the time. :b I only do this for landscpapes where I've got time to fiddle about....when it comes to taking photos of the dogs, I'd have missed the shot by the time I'd done all that messing about

:( All you who had snow are luck buggers, all we've got in sunny Cornwall is rain, rain and yes more rain, oh and I must not forget the 80 mile an hour winds just to get you really soaked to the skin. :( Great photo's everyone. Diane

It's well worth trying get it perfect, as you learn so much from experimenting, but remember even professionals find it difficult at times. When I used to buy photographs from stock libraries regularly (which came as transparencies of various sizes, this was before digital photography) it was annoying to find how few of them actually were of the quality they appeared when printed in the glossy catalogue; there's obviously been a lot of manipulating after the scanning process  . So, be heartened as most of the perfect images we're bombarded with everyday have had quite a lot of help to get that way ;)
