Just wondering how you manage to keep your dogs clean on these muddy days? I have just come back from the rugby fields thinking that it might be a good flat place for my two to have a clean run, and it was full of tempting huge shallow muddy puddles! Hugo loves water and steamed through as many as he could find and ended up with mud up to his neck as usual. I haven't the heart to hose him down with icy water, so rub him over with a warm soapy towel and dry him off with another one. I did think of posting a photo of him all muddy, with Carys relatively clean beside him, but it would have to be x rated haha! Roll on dry weather. Here is a pic of him last night all clean watching tv, a favourite programme was the one with the huskies on the Arctic Explorer programme. He was 12 months old last month and is getting all grown up, my little puppy is getting to be a big boy.

 Simple answer from me.....We dont.... :- Im afraid lately my four have come back up to the eyes in it....

so like you....its dishes and towels at the ready and they all sit in turn to have their legs washed down and

towelled dry....in the summer I do give them a hose down with the cold water....but its been far too cold for

that lately must admit...

Wouldnt it be nice if we invent something to pop them all in after walks...and come out like brand new...

Yes, especially with four whippets! If I could have a wish it would be an outdoor tap with warm water in it. Just to let you know that I was reading the site before getting up the nerve to post, and saw the line drawing of Oscar, how gorgeous was that, beautiful.

Easy - wrap him in a large towel, carry him upstairs and give him a warm shower! That's what I do, and Merlin loves it - he just stands there while I clean him down, and then it only takes 2 minutes to dry him off. That's the beauty of whippets - no need for a blow dry!

That's such a good idea as there is just one to do, I don't need to do the whole shampoo thing, just rinse him off...will try that tomorrow...thank you!

I nearly posted some grotty pics of my two this morning, the field had great muddy lakes in it, and avoid them? not a chance, they charged through the middle of them with great big grins on their faces!!

I am thinking of getting them one of these each, as they both love to snuggle when they're wet, but washing their sleeping bags every time is a bit much!!

in fact...I'm off to order a couple now...

at the mo I use a towel and dog wet wipes

im lucky i have two livingrooms (we call one the wet room),so when i bring my lot home i give them bones and they take em in there crates in the back room by time they have finished them there all dry so i get a nice soft brush and brush away any dirt or mud thats dryed and usually bath once every other week unless really dirty god send my wet room is with 7 dogs to try clean (w00t)

I get a bowl of warm water with dog shampoo and wash feet and bellies with a sponge. My little shaggy Lurcher is beyond help, its a bath a couple of times a week, with a lot of brushing everyday.

Like you all,it makes it very hard work!!

Must admit this is usually how I BATH MINE TOO...but cant do it everyday as my shower room is upstairs too

so its probably almost time for them all to have a shower .

Humm yes I'm sure the Welsh mud is stickier than any other mud :teehee: I have to towel mine down in the kitchen as we only have a miniscule terrace, the Welsh mud sticks to my 2 like s#*t to a blanket! Lol

By the way your boy is

There is a certain charm to a really sopping wet and muddy dog and coat isn't there, I met a chap with a lab this morning who took one look at Hugo and said "Lovely"!

Those towels look brilliant! Not for me though, Hugo would break his neck running around in one if given half a chance I'm sure

Seven dogs wow! I feel faint... two living rooms is the answer, perfect. Mine have kind of taken over the dining room, they sleep there but I fight the tide of wet mud in the porch if I can. :sweating:

It is hard work Amanda, roll on the days when we take them out with a spring in our step, get back home, take their collars and leads off and that is it :D

I was only just cursing the mud this morning, our local park is like a swamp  the girls come back from a walk looking like they are wearing black/brown tights and belly guards LOL I drag them all out into the kitchen and wash them with a wet chamois but it still doesn't get them totally clean. I had to spend 2 hrs on Sunday cleaning my car cos that was sky high too, roll on summer

Ha ha! You are right about the sticky Welsh mud, particularly the orange stuff  I do mine in the hall and then wash the hall floor!

Your two are gorgeous, aren't we lucky, I wish I could have half a dozen whippets, the photos of them in here are wonderful :D

I forgot about the car! OMG! What a state they get into. Sparkling windows hide most of it, it's only when the doors are opened that the full horror is exposed.

I suppose im lucky mine run on the beach so we dont get a lot of

mud but they do go in a state down there sometimes, roll in dead

fish after a dip in the sea and the sand sticks to it a treat

I've fallen in love with Zana!

Good idea, the beach is a bit further away, but in wet weather at the weekend that is where we are going! :D

Yes me too

I carry Bo upstairs and shower off her Paws + Belly

She is now wise to this and if she sees me holding the towel to carry her - She hides under the trampoline + gets even muddier !!!!!

Have to tempt her back in with a few yummy treats

Ha ha! So funny, you really made me laugh imagining Bo clicking on to the towel thing, they are so cute about things like that aren't they :D
