I carry Bo upstairs and shower off her Paws + Belly

She is now wise to this and if she sees me holding the towel to carry her - She hides under the trampoline + gets even muddier !!!!!

Have to tempt her back in with a few yummy treats

I think yours and mine must have been comparing notes as my three quite often go and sit under the trampoline and look at me with that 'I'm not coming out, I can't come out, I will not have a shower' look on their angelic little mugs

If it's really bad, my three have warm showers, towel dry and steam in front of the fire but if it's just legs, they suffer the ignominy of having each leg stuck in a bucket of warm, dog shampoo soapy water. They all absolutely hate both rituals. One day I shall build a doggy wet room - fully tiled, bucket sized shower head, central drainage hole and when they're finished just go back in and towel dry them - what luxury!

Hugo is a very handsome 1 year old - my lad Milo, will be 1 yr in March.

My lot get dried off with a towel and then finish themselves off on the Candlewick on my bed :teehee: :teehee: :teehee:

It was bought for just that purpose, to keep MY bed clean and dry.

The joy of whippets is that they dry quickly and the mud brushes off easily :)

A bath, what is that? :D

Baths are reserved to the next joy that comes along when the weather gets better FOX POO! :x

I think I must have the only whippets that hate mud with the exception of Amber that is. She charges through the mud like a loony. Fortuanatley as we live in the middle of he town by the time we have road walked back home they are usually dry.

Being in Staffordshire we have very clay soil the problem that gives me is the dogs with white feet tend to be stained yellow by the clay.

I feel really lucky - my three tend to avoid mud! If we go somewhere muddy we usually go in the car - make sure it is toasty warm on the way back and after the ten minute drive home the mud seems to just dry and fall off before they get into the house! The only time I have to bath them is if they roll in something nasty ( I say 'they', I mean Grover who is the culprit 99% of the time (w00t) ) I must admit I've had Emmy here for five months and not bathed her - she never gets dirty and never smells, so there is no point. Her skin and coat are healthy. If they get muddy in the garden I sometimes clean their legs but to be quite honest I often just let them come in and dry off - it's easier to clean a muddy tiled floor than it is to bath three dogs!! :teehee:

I,ve got nine of them !!!..............i wipe them down with a old towel, and then they dry off downstairs before coming upstairs lol.................love the photo by the way

For us its a warm water wash down, we have a routine. If Jayse is home aswell one fills up a baucket with watrm water and then is ready with loads of towels while i wash each dog in turn legs, belly etc and then pass to jayse for drying.

Its quite funny as they all know who goes first and wait at the back door. Mojo hates getting washed off and normally is hiding round the corner!!

if only you could have a warm hose pipe!!

Saying that some times Runa decides to roll in poo so out comes the shampoo aswell!!

I couldnt resist adding this photo of Oscar taken a few years ago... .. that look says it all....

Oh a doggy wet room is going to be added to my wish list :) Hugo has really matured over the last 3 months, not so much a puppy anymore so I am sure that Milo will as well, he is still gangly though...he doesn't chew the furniture anymore when I am not looking either haha!

Your dogs are so lucky! My cats sleep upstairs so it is a whippet free zone so far...I haven't come across fox poo yet, is it really smelly

Isn't it funny how different they can be, Carys doesn't like getting muddy either, she trots around puddles and if there is a path she will walk on that if the grass is wet, wonderful, kind of the opposite to Amber and Hugo!

Yes, the floor is easier to clean! How lovely having three. I can quite see how it happens though, mmmm, one more wouldn't make much difference would it?

Thank you :)

I have just seen the pictures of your dogs running on the beach, they are beautiful, your golden oldie is in such lovely condition. I will go to the beach more, it is good that they can see where they are running as well as they run so fast!

What a lovely photo, it's good to know that all over the country on wet muddy days we are all sloshing about together :D

Ha ha! He is just gorgeous! I took all of your advice and this morning after a very muddy walk carried Hugo upstairs for a shower, he was quite a lump but managed it..Dry on the top and clean on the bottom, result! (he came downstairs fast on his own) Thank you everyone for all the info, it has been fascinating to read..I am off to clean the bath now...

Afraid I can't offer any advice as Penny avoids mud, when we are up the woods I often see me stuck in a mud puddle and Penny takes a different route and is standing waiting on me looking spotless lol she doesn't like walking in mud or getting dirty unless it is of course the dreaded smelly stuff! Hugo is gorgeous and sounds a lovely fun character

That is just like Carys, they are the perfect winter girls aren't they :D I have yet to experience the dreaded smelly stuff...eeek!

Oh it is vile when they find fox poo or dead things :x :x A few weeks ago it was sub zero and Grover had managed to find something dead and rotten on the banks of the Mersey. We had to drive home with the windows down. We were virtually blue with cold by the time we got home but the smell was making us retch so we couldn't close the windows. Definitely bath time, that one.

We got Roscoe and Grover together as pups - they are litter brothers. I kept thinking we had room for one more but OH took more convincing. I had become more involved in greyhound and whippet rescue by this point and one day, bizarrely, a whippet x saluki bitch was brought into the greyhound kennels by the warden - she was heading for the pound. I took her home to foster while we waited for someone to claim her. No-one did claim her and the rest is history, as you can see from my signature pic. As soon as I realised she was cat friendly I knew she would be staying - even if it meant OH leaving (w00t) (w00t)

Ah that was such a lovely thing to do, she is certainly a beautiful girl and I bet she is really fast. I saw a Saluki for the first time last year at a show and couldn't believe how big they are. The cat situation here is sometimes a bit fraught, in the house is fine, kind of polite, but they musn't run in the garden or they get chased up the nearest tree!

I did laugh at your description of s stinky car in the freezing cold :D , the worst thing that has happened to me is when I took Hugo for a quick walk before his puppy training class and he managed to roll in some liquid bitumen, all in his ears and collar, front legs and tum, all the white bits OMG! I had to try quickly to get it off with neat washing up liquid but it smeared a bit, so he looked like a very neglected dirty scruffy boy at the class and smelled awful haha! I love your boy's names....
