My Dogs Are Fighting :(

I would also caution over trying to demote Sada below the others (of course she has to be below YOU tho!)

If your actions are demonstrating that YOU consider her to be at the bottom of the pack eg by feeding last etc, and she doesn't agree, than she is more likely to up the anti when your back is turned.

In Pack-Law, Sada is actually in the right - SHE is your second in command and naturally outranks a mere boy and a new-comer to boot! He has no business not doing as he is told.

I would take the fact that Alba has only a red mark (whereas she could have ripped a hole) as a sign that she is controlling her aggression and using minimum force to assert her position. Digit does this to Bloggs on the rare occasion that he is too cheeky for words (like nicking chikkie wings!) Mostly Dij looks at him with amused tolerance, but if he does go too far, Digit will remind him in no uncertain terms of who is the higher ranking of the pair of them. It sounds and looks absolutely awful but no real damage is ever done.

I think I'm of the same mind here as Strike Whippets - I would back my top dog, (unless he was going so far as to rip skin). Look out for the warning signs: does Alba give way if Sada asks him to move for her? If Bloggs gets cheeky on this score, I back Dij and move him. Dogs are not egalitarian creatures, they have a strict hierarchy and for me it makes much more sense for us 2-legged pack leaders to work with it, rather than against.

People on here have very different opinions (about everything!) so this will be no different - but whatever you do, be consistent about it - and if after trying something out for a considerable length of time it ain't working, switch tack and try a different approach!

Good luck me duck :luck:

That makes a lot of sense Charlie.............

boy can these dogs make you worry :(

something i always do ann is do everything to angel first as she is top dog she has her lead on first her food first her treats first even her coat on first this sounds daft but thats how they are in a pack the alpha male and female do everything first before the rest of the pack are involved i even make a fuss of her first

and touch wood ive had no real issues (yet i hope  )

i really do hope you get it sorted :huggles:

:( I noticed a difference in Jinny when Irie came into our home.

She and Ella played well together, albeit rather on the rough side, but as soon as Irie arrived the twosome became "a pack" and the dynamics altered.

As top bitch, Jinny has become more withdrawn and tends to be snappy with the others, whereas when it was just the two of them she didn't feel the need to control Ella - she could do it with just a "look"

I have found it quite sad that Jinny & Ella seem to have lost their bond now - I suppose two is company but three is a crowd.

Having Sox has improved things as Jinny seems to relate to her (same breed lines  ) ......... maybe you need to get a fourth one, Ann?? :- " (w00t)

Please dont put idea's into my head Jane :*

But i must admit your lot have acted in pretty much the same

way as mine have. Im just hoping it sorts itself out soon.

I have always stuck to the same order with them..........

Sada gets seen to first be it food/treat/lead/fuss then its

K and lastly poor old Al and it did seem to be working out

just fine, i have no idea what's happened to change things.

They are all here with me now lounging in the garden but

as soon as we get ready to go out Sada will start :(

Im putting a muzzle on her when we go out at the moment

im not having Big Al hurt again. Its such a shame, she cant

play ball or have a treat when we're out but what else can

i do...................

aww! ann i really do feel for you my 2 had a bit of a set to last night over their bones and it was bloody frightening they had soon forgiven each other mind you daft tarts :teehee:

you are doing the right thing you cant afford for anything serious to happen to any of them with the situation as it is at the moment maybe sada could have a walk on her own tiring for you but maybe you would both be more relaxed about things i really do hope you get this sorted ann its heartbreaking when the dogs you clearly love so dearly just arent getting on thinking of you all kellyx :huggles:
