Phew ! That was the furthest ive been yet on a doggy holiday. What an envious man i am of all you folk who live down in the South West of England, of all my adventures i think it would be hard to match down there for dramatic scenery ! Every corner produces another one of those "Wow you gota be shittin me !" type expressions or maybe even a "Oh thats nice" for those of you mild of manner on here.
I planned on several stop offs and im pleased to say i done everything i said i would, ranging from walking over the Clifton Bridge built by engineering wizard Brunnel to having my dinner at the Jamaica Inn and further down towalk along Bude Beach.
As always it was nice to rekindle friendships and also meet some new ones too.
The reason for my journey was to judge the South West Supreme Lurcher Show on Sunday. After a bitve a shakey start re-race track due to a "silly old pernicky dog-agility witch" things got under way mainly due to Nighthunter (Kev) and his lovely missus Debs with help from a couple of their friends. They managed to organise another track after a bitve thistle weeding !
Pat and Andy ran a faultless show and even provided food and drink which i think was made by Marilyn who also deserves credit ! A fantastic line up of trophys rosettes and sashes with a little envelope too were up for grabs for the Championship Show and the Open Show which followed.
Ill begin with the 2 dogs who i stood as Champ and Rsv Champ...2 fantastic dogs that moved like liquid but yet had power reserved within, configured well and carried themselves perfect from front..side and rear. Turns out the winner was a rescued dog who has been turned around and is doing well in racing and showing.. ! The rsv Ch also a fine animal too....well his mum won last year so theres a tradition in the making !
Well Done everyone else who made this Champion of Champions event, there were no dogs who shouldntve been here and they all conspired to make my job that day extremely difficult but yet enjoyable... except my back is bolloxed now !
The racing events brought the Palmer family to Somerset and i enjoyed the previous nights chat and drink with Keith Linda Shane and Tish, fine racing people indeed !
I think Shane has videos of the finals and as you mightve seen on a previous thread my China won the unders & Colt the overs with Keiths big dog Stern coming second to Colt and Shanes little flyer Chopper in second to China. A bitve mess in the overs after a certain non-ped owner slipped too soon (shes used to traps lol) but it was re-run after the unders final.
The Open Show was won by Brian Pethers gorgeous dog Rebus with my China Rsv.
Ive got pix galore to post but heres a few to be getting on with.
The beautiful Town of Porlock, each street was so narrow and full of character.
what a backdrop !
the view from hillside on my way towards Devon,
Racing winners & rsv with Shanes dog Chopper and Keith Palmers Stern flanking me (i said flanking !)
