Well done everyone!  I was thinking of you all day :(

Many thanks for the results, Millie!

Great results everyone.

Please tell me, if you have your dog entered in two classes and s/he wins one and is beaten in the other, does that make him/her ineligible for the CC because he/she is a beaten dog? (That's how it happens here)

If so, why do you enter two classes? How disappointing must it be to win a class and then not be allowed in the CC line up? :( I couldn't stand that.

Yes, it is the same here...

I entered Herbie in Junior, which at 14 months, I considered the appropriate class,

I was delighted at his 2nd place. I also put him in Yearling, a higher class, which he won! OK, we do not qualify for the challenge, but if I had only entered one class it would have been Junior. If he had won Junior but not Yearling he would still have been beaten in the challenge by the Yearling winner (at least!) So I consider it a safe gamble, & am very proud of the little lad!

(If the Junior winner had won the CC, I could have been invited back in the ring to challenge for the Res CC as the only dog who had beaten Herbie was the Junior winner.)

WELL DONE EVERYONE! It was great to see so many K9ers in the cards & lovely to put some more faces to names!

Yes it is the same here Lana, and I can never understand why people enter two classes. It does'nt happen much in whippets, perhaps more at open shows. I hope I will not offend anyone by saying it seems to be a newer exhibitor thing and they do grow out of it :p

Its not quite so bad if you do better in the second class but really that just means NON of the dogs in the second class were as good as the one before.

I personally would rather people saw my dog in the challenge so why risk being beaten in a higher class. Folk do say ' Oh we have come a long way so we just want to enter as many classes as possible' fair comment I guess.

 Forgot to say well done to Libbee and Jax, very well deserved I bet

But if the judge likes the dog enough to award it the CC then it will win all the classes it is entered in.

Exactly my thoughts Beerhound!

(from a 'newer' exhibitor who has been showing from the age of 3 - 60 ;) )

I have entered Archie in 2 classes the last couple of shows, this was because I felt that perhaps he wasn't mature enough to do anything in Postgrad, so I've entered him in Graduate where he may do okay and then Postgrad as well figuring if he does well in Graduate I might get him qualified for Crufts in Postgrad. But if he does nothing in Grad I know pretty much he won't have a chance in Postgrad!

At Welks he won Graduate, and then got 2nd in Postgrad which although he couldn't compete for the CC I wasn't bothered as I knew he was qualified for Crufts  and that was my aim for the year!

But Karens right, I'll probably grow out of it now!! Now I am a bit more confident that he can do okay in Postgrad as he has been placed or at least made the cut in every class we have been in I don't think I will bother with graduate. But I agree I probably have entered him in 2 classes because I was a bit unsure :b

I once saw an exhibitor with a RR win about 3 classes at the Brisbane Royal one year, and then place 2nd or 3rd in the open class- couldn't go in for challenge of course- made it a pretty small challenge line up.

I was in Oxford, at ETT club meeting, haranguing them to be ruthless in getting rid of majority of trophies (there were about 100 I think) down to 30!

Well done to Jax and to Liz Third, as I too love her Limit Dog.

I have been entering Poppy in 2 or more classes as i'm chasing points for her junior warrant, but once she's over 18 months, she will only go into one class.

I did the same as Jo with Murphy. When i entered him for NWA,he wasn't qualified for Crufts & I too, wasn't sure whether he would stand a chance in post grad.As it was,he qualified at a previous show,so from now on,he'll only be entered in just the one class!

thanks all - I can see where you're coming from.
