Does anyone have any suggestions - I currently own an Astra estate which is just about adequate for carrying my 6 boys (but only just). I am looking for something that will give me abit more room, I would consider a van but dont want something as large as a transit etc as I will have to use it all of the time. I also need at least 3 seats so that I can accomodate my mum as well as myself, Rob and the boys.

Any suggestions or ideas?

Thanks in advance

sounds like just what we need :) will keep watching this topic for advise too

We have a Citroen Dispatch van, it has 3 seats in front. Our 4 whippets 2 lurchers, afghan and collie fit in there no problem, you can also get it as a combi, which has six seats and still have room at the back. I think the seats at rear fold down.

Hope this helps

We are thinking about getting a van, just for the dogs we been looking in the AutoTrader.

i've been hankering after a citroen dispatch van, i've been going along to the car auctions when the police put some of their fleet through in the hope i can get a police dog van

Thanks for the suggestions so far  We had thought about a Citroen Berlingo before as a few friends have them - but not sure if big enough. The Despatch looks good but might be over my price range :(

My friends with 2 whippets and a lurcher have the Berlingo... they have 3 family too and and seem to love it. I had to drive it back from the hospital one day and mst admit I liked it too.

Ive been looking to change my little Polo too very soon, like Daledogs says the Auto Trader is good online for different models. Im looking at a Kia Sportage or a Suzuki Vitara..

with hopefully room for a dog bar and 3 whippets behind... :) :) oh and a tow bar to fit the bike rack on for my son and hubby...

Good luck with your search, I hope you find something suitable soon... :luck:

I love the mondeo estate. Mine was written off by the floods and I did a lot of research to see if I could find anything I liked any better and couldn't.

I have a divided cage in the boot with a whippet and a lurcher (22") on each side of the divide, but there'd be room for one more whippet on each side, especially if they were all little whippets, rather than the chunkier lurchers.

I have a Peugeot Partner which is exactly the same as a Citroen Berlingo. I LOVE it - just want i wanted. When the back seats are all forward the 'van' space is excellent - we've moved a 3 piece conservatory suite in it easily. Even when you have the seats down, the boot space is very large anyway.

Mazda Bongo ? :) I know some people are put off because their all imports  but nice little vans :) small enough to use everyday and they all tend to have aircon as standard

Cheers

we've got a mercedes Vito, have found it brilliant for the dogs, You can have 5 or 6 seats, and fits 5 crates in, or 6 if you take out one of the rear seats. Plenty of room  comes in three different lengths we have the middle one.

We have a VW Transporter, Has 2 seats in the front and 2 in back, plenty of room for my 6 whippets and 1 greyhound, and darling hubby just bought me W33OOF plates for it :D (w00t) chuffed

Yes we have a Vito too-lots of options seat/space wise.....in fact we are on our 2nd Vito-highly recommend them.

6 seats-back removable if wanted and loads of space in back for cages.

Reg.plates-yes we have the name of one of our whippets

We are getting a Bongo and we cant wait.

Have a look at them Darcia - the are really versatile - can be 8 seater, or 6 seater with 2 seats literally folding into the walls, and the middle seats fold into a table. They can be 4wd, but are mostly auto gear boxes, plus if you get an aft model the roof lifts up to make it nice and airy (and you can sleep there!). You should be able to get a good one for £6000, (approx 9 years old but dont let that put you off) I'm a real bongo bore at the moment - if you are interested pm me 8)

Oh no not you a Bongo bore  .......and on top of Bongo's being so versatile .....there's actually a Bongo club ;) ......but I still see nothing wrong with a Tranny :teehee:
