Well done everyone, sounds like there were some cracking races.

well done everyone today there were some cracking races and oce again a great friendly atmosphere, the weather wasn't bad either a bit cold but dry and bright.

Must say a huge thanks to the HIGHGATE TEAM who as allways pull out all the stops for us whippet racers the track was spot on, when I spoke to David on Friday the middle of the track and the home straight were under water, they had the pumps on draining it off, but he assured me it would be right for our meeting on the Sunday and true to his word it was

It was great to see Jane Madgwick back trackside after her recent spell back in hospital , she'll be knackered for a few days now after the long journey but she was deternined to get there good on yer Jane hope to see you at the next one

As I said some great racing throughout the day none moreso than than the supreme scratch final with MULE SKINNER and CURLIN it was neck and neck all the way with Curlin taking it on the line in a time of 14-92

after MULE SKINNER first race time of 14-94 being just 20 pops outside greyhound track record James (Highgate) was really impressed he suggested we keep a record of times and have our own track record

this being the start only to be broken later in the day by CURLIN who is now the official TRACK RECORD holder this will be posted in the NNWRF forum and added to as and when it is broken

Well done to Sup golden jacket winner TINKERSMILL 15-25/15-50, 2nd Sup dog winner LENNY'S LEGS 15-34 / 15-49, Sup vet winner MORPHIOUS 16-65 / 16-25, Sup yearling winner CLASSIC ROCK 15-97 / ,KAI-SERA 16-72 , HE'S THE PITTS 15-82 , KENTUCKY 15-84 , FIRE LAD 15-10 , BAZ YOUNG 16-44 , NOTORIOUS n/t and I'LL BE BACK 16-28

thanks for returning the trophies back in time it was nice to be able to do the presentation with a full table those trophies missing from the previous year have again been replaced and as trophies are now being signed for there can be no excuses

Thanks to Aison the presentation jackets were lovely as allways and thanks to Dee, Bert, Gary, Don, Fleesh, Tommy, Chris, Julieand Craig (making his debut on the committee ) for all your hard work

The race between Curlin and Mule skinner was the best race of the day for me, to see Curlin take Mule Skinner on the outside, but to be fare Mule Skinner for his size never gave a an ounce away to Curlin and ran him right to the finish, Both dogs are a force to be reckoned with, (BRILLIANT). I look forward to seeing these two run again. :teehee: di

Well done all the winners today esp Tinkersmill & Lennys legs both looking on great form...Thanks to all that attendedCheers Elise for putting results on

Got to say how briliant High Gate stadium running surface was yet again today ...these guys put so much work into getting everything spot on for us whippet racers

Couldn't agree more with you Dee

As you may know... im new to the sport.... can anyone tell me why the Champs are at WESTHAUGHTON STADIUM and not somewhere like Highgate where the track is far superior and safer for the dogs, even with my novice eye??

With drainage that seems to work .... Its like the FA cup being played on Hackney marshes... (w00t) (w00t) (w00t) Think of the pr ;)

The cafe stays open at Highgate too! (w00t)

EASY TO TURN UP WHEN YOU ONLY LIVE UP THE ROAD

CANT SEE WHY A VOTE IS NOT DONE AT THE CHAMPS FOR THE FOLLOWING YEAR WHERE THE PEOPLE WHO ARE AT THE EVENT COULD AIR THERE VEIWS THIS COULD BE DONE AFTER THE RACING AT THE STRAIT CHAMPS WHEN THERE IS NO RUSH TO LEAVE

JUST AN IDEAR

GARY

i appreciate that some people have further to travle than others and no matter where the agm is held not everybody will be happy about it, it's 2 and a half hours for me up the road. i voted for highgate but we were out voted so i have a choice to run my dog or not to run ,

my personal opinion is that the top table should decide were the champs are run, nominations should be submitted to them to decide on.

The fairest place to have them for everyone would be highgate easier for everyone to travel to

think if Coventry had not been brought into the equasion the vote more than likely would have gone for Highgate

IMO Coventry was a wasted vote as the stadium was allways going to close and has closed

doesnt matter what any one says champs are at westhoughton, so chin up and get on with it, no matter who voted or who never even went. if you want to run, run if you dont, dont. doesnt matter who thinks whats best everyone has a favourite track, where they like to run at, lets just support the track where the champs are actually at and get on with it. all this tit for tat aint guna make anything else than good reading!!!!

I don't normally post on nnwrf topics with me not being a member, but seeing as its gone off topic I will.

If the venue for the championships should be changed to Highgate at the last miniute, would it not cause friction between two flapping tracks? and if the owners of Westhoughton take offence to what as been posted on k9 regarding safety, we could end up losing another venue.
