i appreciate that some people have further to travle than others and no matter where the agm is held not everybody will be happy about it, it's 2 and a half hours for me up the road. i voted for highgate but we were out voted so i have a choice to run my dog or not to run ,
my personal opinion is that the top table should decide were the champs are run, nominations should be submitted to them to decide on.

SPOT ON MR GILL

A BIG THANKS TO THE NNWRF AND ALL THE HELPERS YESTERDAY A GREAT DAY OUT WITH PLENTY OF GOOD RACING.

AND A BIG THANKS YOU FOR THE PRESENTATION JACKET TINKERMILL WON COMING SECOND IN THE TOP FIVE.

JOHN AND I ENJOYED A GOOD DAYS RACING.

LOOKING FORWARD TO THE NEXT OPEN

PAT AND JOHN

I AGREE WITH YOU JOHN.THE FAIREST PLACE TO HAVE THE CHAMPS WOULD BE AT A NEUTRAL TRACK SUCH AS STAINSFORTH WHERE DOGS WOULD ALL HAVE AN EQUAL OPPORTUNITY AND ITS FAIRLY CENTRAL FOR EVERYBODY,I UNDERSTAND THE COST WAS A FACTOR BUT THINK EVERYBODY WOULD PAY A LITTLE EXTRA FOR TOP FACILITIES.MAYBE A GOOD IDEA THAT THE TOP TABLE HAVE THE DECIDING SAY BUT THE MEMBERS WISHES MUST BE RESPECTED .THE CHAMPS WILL BE AT WESTHOUGHTON AND IT WAS DEMOCRATICALLY VOTED FOR.I FOR ONE WILL BE RUNNING MY DOGS .THE TRACK WAS WELL PREPARED FOR LAST WEEKS FINALS IN TERRIBLE WEATHER CONDITIONS.LETS ALL PULL TOGETHER AND HAVE A GREAT DAYS RACING AND LET THE DOGS DO THE TALKING

forgot to say victoria is brand new to the sport as she stated herself ,and is only saying what she thinks so know one needs to jump on her for having an opinion. as its been said it was voted on and thats that but think what john gill said is the way it should and could be done

all very interesting how it all works...

And just to be clear, I wasn't having a dig at the guys that put on the the racing at Westhoughton... they were really kind and supportive to me.

I was just wondering why you wouldn't choose a better quality track for a Championship competition. I can only comment on the ones that I have seen, I have no problem with traveling.... too mad and keen at the moment :D ... for example I thought the track at Easington was lovely... I also wouldn't know where Jo runs best yet... so that's also not a motive.

My thinking is how do you add to the sense of occasion of "the champs" and, to me, that would be picking the classiest stadium that you can find... wherever it is!

;)

I read lots on here about attracting new members to the sport... as someone who knows a little about branding, as in advertising not cattle ;) , this really wouldn't do the sport any harm!! Put a bit of glamor into in!! I see individuals that already do make it great... dvd.. photography... the wonderful winner jackets that Alison made!!!( Lots more that I'm sure I don't know about)

I am new and have an unbiased view, haven't been around long enough to be into all the politics and resentment yet (w00t)

Well if you can give me an intelligent reason why... I'll promise to think about it! -_-

I personally dont think it matters where the champs are held, westhoughton is a good track with great people running it who are so welcoming to the whippets.

i think the champs will be just as good as when they have been anywhere else well it will be for us and hey if we got summat to enter it will be even better (w00t)

im not one to complain about any track i will be happy going anywhere for any champs now and in the future i just go to run my dogs because thats what i enjoy doing and have done all my life which im hoping my kids will carry on the family tradition (one of the longest families to be in whippet racing  )

a proposal vote would be no different than it is now,the the region or area with the biggest membership ,would win decide a venue.

best way is for top table and or the reps decide.

B.W.R.A is members run not committee run and as such its upto the members to vote on where the champs are, and for the committe to carry out the members wisher, sorry off topic but think the committee get the finger pointed at them enough for votes put in place by the members keep the BWRA members run

well said graham this about the races at highgate sunday not anythink else same all shit comes up every time get on with the racing and enjoy it for god sake

this does seem to have overtook the the topic congratulating the winners/racers from Sunday, as for where the BWRA hold their champs bend or straight someone will complain even though they have the opportunity to go and vote on where they will be lets try and give the committee which we have elected the support they deserve to do the job in a democratic way. As for WESTHOUGHTON there are no safety issues, I'm certain the club committee would have NO if there were, I run my dogs there at the club which I wouldn't if there were, the appearance of the running track at the North West open, well it had been snowing so it was bound to be a bit wet as for the colour and texture of the sand this I think after speaking to David is down to the type of sand and the amount of salt its had to have on it due to the extreme weather conditions Highgate had just the same problem a few weeks back although it wasn't a safety issue they have stripped and resurfaced the track hence the track on Sunday looked fantastic.

As for Stainforth, Hall Green, etc lovely venues but lets stick with the tracks that accommodate and look after us all year round without them we wouldn't have any bend racing
