We decided to take the train from Grosmont to Goathland and then walk back. I took this in the pitch black of the tunnel so wasn't quite sure what I was taking, although I knew Muffin was in that direction somewhere - turned out OK!

We usually walk back up via the railway trail, but this time decided to try the other side, so with the aid of a map we set off.

I converted some of them to black and white - a bit grainy as I used too high an ISO on a few of them.

I totally agree. So many times I've been transported back to the past by the smell of something. I think I've read that the sense of smell is the most powerful sense. :)

How long was the walk back Gillian? I can never map read and walk at the same time.....Richard is rather skilled multi tasking like that :p Some nice autumnal colours there :)

I'm not a huge steam train buff, but I do love seeing them in action. There's certainly some steam coming out of those. :b
