Had to take Milo to the vet this morning as he has had some bad coughing fits over the past few days, turns out he has bronchitis, so he's been dosed up. Then took Milo and Riley out for a walk when these two huskys came out of nowhere- couldn't see an owner- and the biggest one grabbed Riley by the throat and pinned him up by the wall. The screaming still sends shivers. Thankfully as I ran over shouting the dog let go and Riley shot off. Both dogs then took off back down the way they'd come. Managed to find and calm Riley down and thankfully he didn't have a mark, but his collar does. I put my dogs on the lead and carried on. Low and behold near the gate there are the dogs with their owner so I kindly informed him what his bigger dog had done (Riley was crying and shaking again at the sight of them), to which he replied "where was that?" back there "Oh he's never done anything like that before! Thats why they're off the lead" (so why when he saw me approaching had he taken the larger dog by the collar and was trying to distract him with a something?) I told him that if he's going to walk his dogs off the lead he should at least know where they are and control them.

In hind sight I wish I'd got his name or something because I phoned dog warden who said there wasn't much they can do. But I was shaken too and you never think straight till you've calmed down. I'm thinking of reporting it to the police as well.

oh my gosh thats horrible.

he doesnt sound like the nicest of people, he probabily wouldnt have given you his real name or a name. i think you should call the police because if you do and they cant do anything maybe if it happens again then they will have a report of it twice and they will do somthing but if you dont report it then they wont know so if it happens again then they will have to wait for a third attack. or maybe somone has already reported it so your report will be the one that makes them do somthing. it sounds like this dog shouldnt be off the lead and the owner knows it. what if you were a kid or teenager taking the dog walk things could have turned out alot worse.

please report it so at least they know.

:huggles:

I have reported it to the police, I also recognize the dogs but they've always been walked by a woman before and not seen them on this walk. They told me if I found out the owners name to get back in touch, but they will keep an eye out etc in the mean time.

Poor little man :( Glad he's ok though as it could have been very nasty.

Amazing how none of these dogs have 'ever done that before'! Drives me nuts!

Hope Milo is soon back to himself, poor love.

It's idiot owners like that who get other dog owners a bad name - TWIT!

:huggles: Hugs from me & Ellie

Just found a wound on Rileys chin, poor little might, he's very quiet....

Milo has a runny bum thinking its this mornings injection, he's very quiet too....

Both are lying on the sofa with faces on them like a wet weekend.

Hi, I hope Riley is OK and also you as this kind of thing really does shake you up doesn't it? This has happened to me a couple of times but not as bad as your experience - some people are really stupid and I tend not to trust a lot of em! It takes a bit of time to get your confidence back but you do. :))

I too reported to the local dog warden but they did absolutley nothing - the dog in question attacked that many dogs culiminating in a really nasty attack on a collie then the owner had it pts. You did right to report it though.

I find it really is a fine balance between protecting your dog and letting them run off lead and play with other dogs. :sweating: but I have to let him do it as he is the only dog and needs to have a bit of doggy company but it does worry me.

Poor Riley, must have really shaken him up.

Some of these owners need taking by the throat themselves!

Oh no how awful, what a bad morning  I hope that Riley isn't too shaken up by his ordeal, Molly sends lots of big sisterly kisses :* and I hope that Milo gets better soon :huggles: I can imagine how sad they both look, its bad enough when one is down in the dumps but 2 is almost unbearable :(

Riley was even more down in the dumps this morning, woke up and the wound I found y-day was swollen so took him to vets and he's on antibiotics, wasnt impressed by the injection at all but it must of kicked in as he is back to his cheery chappy self, and so is milo - though still coughing- So I'm feeling better too, I didnt realise just how upset I was until this morning. Thanks for all your kind words xx

Poor things.................Lots of hugs to them both :huggles: :huggles: :huggles: :huggles:

Fancy letting two huskies off the lead together. It must take nerves of steel giving huskies freedom off lead, and they would have to be very well trained not to run off or for a perfect recall. They obviously aren't reliable off lead.

Hopefully the owners will act more responsibly next time. Sorry your Milo had to suffer the consequences. :( Hope he feels better soon and there aren't any lasting behavioural issues as a result. :luck:

Sorry to hear this. Something similar happened to Gelert a couple of years back with a labrador. He had to have quite a few stitches in his throat, but recovered well, and didn't have any lasting behavioural issues after. Hopefully Milo will be the same :luck: He's bound to be sore for a while though :huggles:

Interestingly we bumped into the same labrador that attacked Gelert a few weeks back, as we were back in Wales for a while. It rushed up roaring and growling again. Luckily James was able to get the dogs behind him, and fend it off. The owner shouted over 'Don't worry, he's fine with other dogs' to which James answered, 'No he's not. This is the dog that ripped our dogs throat open'. Unfortunately some people never learn, or perhaps just don't care :(

I would have kicked the flamin husky in the ribs, if the owner had said anything I would have done the same to him.

Oh how terrible..... how irresponsible of that owner  makes me so cross

Love and hugs to you all :huggles:
