My Mums old cat never came home sunday night, something that is very unusual for him (he is 11 years old and neutered). Obviously she was worried sick and have been out looking for him. The other cat was behaving strange as well - would not go out, had to sleep in the bed etc. These two cats are half brothers and very dependent of each other.

Anyway, she found the cat last night in the haybarn. The neighbours dog (rottweiler-doberman cross) had attacked him and shattered his leg badly. He had high fever and was probably injured inside as well. So the vet said the only thing to do was to put him to sleep. This dog is allowed to be loose without anybody watching it. The other neighbour is also unhappy about this, because her cats have been chased and the dog is acting funny around her kids. IRRESPONSIBLE DOGOWNERS ANNOYS ME SO MUCH!!!!

Oh, and funnily enough, the dogs owners suddenly remembered that the dog had "played" with the cat on sunday. Poor thing have been lying there since then suffering!!! AAARRRGGGHHH!!!!

if the dogs loes on the streets contact your dog warden and keep cintacting her or him till they do something.

so sorry to here about your mums cat :(

So sorry :(

Some people are just down right irresponsible, hope theother cat is ok.

So sorry :( - the poor cat suffering like that, no wonder you are so upset. :(

awww how horrible for you and your mum..

I cant believe they left your cat injured for so long without telling you there dog had 'played' with your cat...could you get the police/RSPCA involved after all they let the poor thing suffer, even though they knew you were looking for it

This dog defenetly needs looking at, but i guess if he was in his own garden and the cat came in theres not a lot that you can do with his agression.

If he is wandering all over the place, perhaps you could grab him and take him to the dogs home and say he was wandering loose and has a history of attacking things?

So sorry for your loss...we have the brother of my neighbours kitten who was posioned a week or so ago and had to be put down :'( :'(

Thats really sad news , so sorry about your mums pussy cat .

Ive lost 3 of my 4 cats in the last year and my sister has offered to get me a new ginger kitten as Ive never not had a ginger cat since I was 11 years old ,but the pain of losing one of my cats through tragic curcumstances is still too fresh in my mind and i couldnt cope with the worry of another cat at present. :(

Give your mum my regards and sympathy please , I love the independance of the cats , but I do worry so much if they are not at home at their usual time

Jackie

Sorry about the cat Cathrine :( thats aweful news.

and Jax so sorry to hear the news of your cats too, I enjoyed seeing your Cat pictures on K9. :(

I also l worry about my 3 even when they come home a few hours late. Meeko once went missing for 3 days and Id started making posters etc and he came back large as life itself.

We do worry about our pets and can fully understand your anger when people are not responsible owners . its not the animals faults - always the person in my eyes.

Spoke to my mum in Norway (no RSPCA there). She lives on a little farm, where she rents a little house. It is the daughter of the landlord who owns the dog. My mum is unfortunately not in a situation where she can get into an argument with them, because she can't move somewhere else (3 dogs, pups on the way and now one cat and relies on the cheap rent...)

Anyway, she told me the other neighbours had been in touch with the right people, so they will keep an eye out for loose dogs. If they catch this one running about... Who knows... The new dog law in Norway is very strict...

Here is a pic of the two boys, the one with his paw streched out is the surviving one. :(

I saw that race Catherine :( , Poor horse :( What we put them through for our pleasure

Oh dear Catherine, what a lot of bad news, I think I saw the race too- horrible :( I'm so sorry.

Cathrine very sorry to hear that news , please don't think I am being insensitive but this is a subject close to my heart!

firstly your right dogs should be properly looked after and not allowed to roam especially if they are ill behaved, but what about the cats roaming tendencies? my dog has on numerous occasions chased the neighbours cat out of our garden, but for the grace of god he hasn't caught it yet!

A number of years ago my Brothers dog also a whippet, caught and killed a neighbours cat in his back garden, my brother was upset and told the cat owners, who promptly went beserk!

The dog was properly enclosed in his own garden, it was the cat that came over the fence.

I don't particularly like cats but wouldn't like to see them hurt, I would however like to stop them coming into my back garden and using it as a toilet.

It's a difficult situation but please don't be blinkered about cats.

Well, this cat was attacked right outside the house he lived in. He had lived for 11 years with different kind of dogs (gundogs, hounds etc), and knew very well how to behave. This particular dog is being let loose without supervision and no fence around the garden( they even leave it out when they go away for hours). That is why it is able to run to the next house and threathen their children and pets. My mothers dogs will probably chase a running cat if they can, but being a responsible dog owner she makes sure they don't get the chance.. Of course, I agree with you, if a cat is stupid enough to jump into somebody elses garden, nobody can be blamed for an accident. But the worst thing was that they failed to tell my mother. And they knew perfectly well that she had been looking for the cat for days. At least the poor animal wouldn't have had to suffer for days, and could possibly have been saved...

I think that is the upsetting bit, the fact they knew there dog had done it but chose to keep quiet about it.

If it had been an accedent and said something straight away may be the cat could have been saved or if not it wouldnt have suffered so much

Really feel for you and then the bad thing with your horse :huggles:

So sorry to hear about your mums poor cat. My own cat Batley was killed by 2 lurchers in January & it still upsets me when I think about it. The really bad thing was that the dogs belonged to a friend of mine, he was walking the dogs in our local park at the back of our house & Batley was in there too. Wrong place, wrong time. But at least my friend phoned me to tell me what had happened so I didn't spend ages wondering where he had gone.

He now keeps his dogs on leads until they get to the other side of the park away from the houses so hopefully it wont ever happen again.

Hope something is done about the dog(and owner) & that your mum is O.K.
