i hate to run my country down but our shows here are just getting worse and worse ! turned up at a venue today where we were told the grass was "2 inches long"...it was.....6 BLOODY MONTHS AGO !!!
seriously, the grass came to my knee and below the grass the ground was bumpy and rock-hard...i thought i seen 3 young pygmys out hunting in it..damn near trod on them !
cars drove up and down to flatten it somewhat but to no avail. so permission was given for a field 1000 yds down the road. so guess what we all had to drive down to it after the showing was finished. for 2 hours nobody knew if judges were organised so in the interim a "whole lota burgering went on!"
simulated-coursing over 2 jumps started first. i never usually race COLT at it but hey presto he won it. the show got under way and rhondas lad grant won 2 classes with BRONCO. smooth under 23 being one of them and i think "collie cross". well done kid !
"thenst sunbeaten and weary travelling lurcher folk went a racing !"
about 220yds on slightly hard surface but 2 inch grass was the track.
over 23" was marred by the usual "bull crosses" racing with no muzzles !!!  why why why does racing still take place here with muzzles being "an option" ??????????????????
however foolishly enough i ran COLT in it too after the simo..... :- "
final was argued as to the winner so he had to do a re-run in which he was lucky enough to win. hats off to you my lad you ran your heart out and im sorry i entered you in both events. i wont do it again...scouts honour
rhonda with "BRONCO"
grant with ZENA....rhonda (longstone lad) with BRONCO... and some lou & his mut
