Set on 20 Acres of land is two dog-friendly holiday cottages owned by Elaine, Adrian and their friendly dog Ralph. The Old Shippen which is a two bedroom cottage and The Old Piggery which is a one bedroom bungalow, both of which are situated on Kerswell Farm.

We booked our two-night stay in The Old Shippen which has a brilliant upside down layout with the bedrooms and bathrooms on the lower floor and the lounge, kitchen/diner upstairs so that you can look out and enjoy the view.

The name of this cottage comes as it is a conversion of the original Shippen of Kerswell Farm and the work that has gone into this beautiful holiday home is absolutely amazing.

Ooh, that looks lovely:) Can I ask a few questions please:

Does each cottage have its own enclosed garden? And how enclosed is enclosed?

The website mentions deer, rabbits and hares - do they keep popping up all over the place (which would be a deal-breaker for us), or only spotted occasionally if you're 'lucky'?

How far is it from the nearest sandy beach, and are there any cliffs on the beach that a really stupid dog would climb to the top of and then run over the edge in pursuit of a bunny?

The Old Shippen has it's own enclosed garden and is very secure, we didn't spot any deer or rabbits but that's not to say you won't come across any, that said each part of the land is pretty enclosed.

You are spoilt for choice when it comes to beaches and dog walks and would be hard pushed to visit them all within 2 weeks, we visited Instow beach which when the tide is out is a massive expanse of sand, sea and dogs! it was wonderful and every dog and dog owner was extremely friendly.

Also if you mention Aurora Pets you will get 10% off your booking. :)

Thank you, @Aurora Pets :) We won't be in a position to go any time soon as we have a 21-year-old cat we're not happy to leave overnight now, but it's definitely one to add to the list of possibles.

Would like to go tomorrow- or possibly tonight. Will bookmark it for sure.
