i've had an update on Molly and she looks like she will make a full recovery, she has been out for little lead walk and was apparently quite happy with the other dogs she met, wagging tails etc so it looks like she should make a good recovery mentally as well. )

apparently the dog that bit her was an 8 month old pup who she knows and has played with before, it seems he was getting frustrated at not being able to keep up with her and snapped when she was whizzing past him, they will avoid the dog completely from now on and are a little nervous about letting her of the lead again in the future, I think Carole and Ken have been more traumatised by this that Molly has.

I'm so glad that Molly is doing so well. I really thought that she would have a problem with other dogs, but she is obviously a well balanced little girl.

im so glad molly will be ok becca. :thumbsup: are the owners of the dog paying the vets bills?if not threaten them with legal action. :thumbsup: there are far too many of these incidents happening these days with these types of dogs. :rant: i think what seraphina says they do in australia is an excellent idea.

I don't know whats happening on the vet bill front ,

i do think that this dog should at least get a warning(well the owners) and maybe some training classes as presumably at that age he is just a first time offender, before it becomes ingrained :thumbsup:

It would be nice if they made a contribution. Our next-door-neighbour's staffie x saw an opportune moment a while back, and streaked right across the road. It tore off the ear of the collie who lived opposite in the ensuing fight. They did offer to pay the vets bill of around £400 to reattach it. Predictably the staffie x was called 'Tyson' :- " (no, REALLY...)

Do you know I don't think I've heard of an incident recently that didn't involve a staffie or EBT. It has to be said Tyson wasn't a well-socialised dog, I only ever saw them take him for a walk a handful of times in 8 years, and that was straight to the Red Lion (w00t) :- "

I'm Molly's mum (the whippet attacked a couple of weeks ago).

I've just read through all the replies to Rebeccas original posting and picture of our Molly. I would like to thank everyone who took the time to reply, and give very good advice about what to put on the scar etc.

Molly is doing really well, there is just a small part of the wound that is taking longer to heal, but she was discharged from the vet a couple of days ago.

Molly is back running around as usual, and thankfully happily playing with all her doggy friends, I was worried she would be wary near dogs but she's fine.

This is the first time I have put anything on this site, so sorry if I'm waffling a bit, thanks again,

Hi carol welcome to k9 great to hear molly is on the mend maybe when she is fully fit you might like to give her a go at lure coursing, with The North West Lure Coursing Club We are running a puppy cup later in the season :thumbsup:

    i wish there were tougher laws for owners. i know everyone on this site would be happier if all bad owners were made to pay for their mistreatment. instead, its the animal who suffers while the owners get away with it. who enforces the 'cannot own an animal for 10yrs' anyway?

I agree Lalena, I own a very large , very strong staffie we love him to bits and he is very well trained as most none ped racers who have met him will tell you. But with a bad owner you have a killer running loose. I hope the owner is found and sorted out very soon.
