Well I'm lost for words Gaz  it was very nice to see you building bridges up Scotland  now we should all do the same as Gaz and turn over a new leaf and all have alots of these :huggles: :huggles: :huggles:

I think the atmosphere at the track is very different to what it's like on K9. You can say what you want behind a computer screen, but on the whole people are a bit more civilised face to face...................maybe dna testing for owners to see if they are chimps or humans might be a start, unless you come from hartlepool and then you are onto a loser (w00t) ( and I can say that cos I'm a poolie :teehee: :- " )

Here i am again see i can't keep my opinions to myself even after 5 mins lol

You are totally right Gary we do need to move our sport forward and come on what a great move you and the Fed people have done to secure a place like Witton Castle for our Sport - example of working together and working for the people of the sport.

I have raced whippets all my life and yes there have been lots of changes some for the better and some that i think are for the worst but at the end of the day i like many others are still here and enjoying it the majority of the time - weekend events have gone from strength to strength opens are on the whole organised well and the atmosphere i feel is getting better again - we will always have those who pull down what people do and it will never be good enough for some (but those people will be like it in life in general not just at the track) - but like you say until you have either run a club, worked on a committee, sometimes you don't realise how much work is done off the track and in your own time and at your own expense too.

Its sad that people are feeling the need to pack in what is on the whole a great 'hobby'.

Keep up the good work Gary and heres hoping you're not one more to turn away from what is most of the time a good hobby. (Sorry i must be missing work everything it type turns into a bloody essay)

What about a test for a baboon , or even a bear, that's a polar.

Signed.....my little pony. ;)

Don't know how the other topic made it on to K9  Gary.As with all sensitive issues things are best kept quiet, untill the issue is resolved, but do believe whole heartidly it is in the interests of whippet racing that this is laid to rest.

That aside whippet racing is brilliant  .Wish i'd started years ago.Scotland was great this year ;) and meeting Lindas sister Hilda was the highlight. What a double act :lol:Sometimes things rear up and cause controversy, but thats life  It doesn't alter the fact that whippet racing is a great hobby with some great people involved in it  :D

Have to agree Linda, Hilda and Josie (doesn't race any more) are a class act together ... pmsl at the old woman day ...they dressed up

Wherever there's competition there's controversy it's a simple fact of human nature that even though some don't show it we all want to win.

Petty grudges are what really get me, you can see it in some peoples faces when they look at others in racing. Half look like they want to give someone a good smack given half the chance and the rest look terrified that someone wants to "do them in" over something so silly.

At the end of the day, we're all passionate about our sport and we all have differing opinions. What we all are guilty of a times is taking things completely out of context where our dogs are concerned, many are not prepared to listed to the opinions of fellow racers and remaining open minded, "it's my way or the highway".

The major flaw in the arguments in our sports in intolerance. Many are not interested in listening to fellow racers point of view and at least trying to understand their reasoning and the manner in which they have come to this conclusion. There are many fallacies in peoples reasoning but instead of trying to oppose these in a calm, grown up manner it all turns into back biting and petty sniping.

Our number one love is our dogs and we'd all do anything for them, but even down to dogs bumping on the tracks or accidents involving dogs some people have to get nasty and quite frankly silly about it. I think a little calm, some reasoning and a lot of maturity would go a long way in this sport.

Maybe it's not "the way it's always been" but then again I haven't always been able to drive but I learn't, for doG's sake we haven't always bought sliced bread but if we carried on the way it has "always been" then we'd be living in houses built out of cow sh*t and without experimentation the breed that we know and love as the "Non-Ped Whippet" would probably have never been invented.

Elise (aka Fleesh) who is fully of love for everyone, :huggles: :* :huggles: :* and might just run away and become a Hippy
