I just wanted to say that this has been the first year that we have been away camping with the whippeteers and we have enjoyed ourselves so much, the atmosphere has been brilliant, we've made some fantastic friendships and watched some brilliant dog racing. We've cheered till we're hoarse and laughed till we've cried. I can't remember a nicer summer.

Perhaps everything looks better in hindsight and we will one day look back on this summer as just the good old days but I hope not :)

Couldn't have put it better myself!!, sometimes wonder if i'm in a happy little bubble all of my own.

I'm still just as addicted as i was when i was a kid, probably more so now ("eeeeeeee when i were a lad" in my best lancashire accent lol).

There are some fab people in this sport (Geoff with his stories  ), people you won't see for months on end and you meet up and it's as if you only spoke to them yesterday. Yet you bump into people you once worked with and you'd be stuck for conversation.

I still think the sport is on its way back up, some brilliant pups about and still lots of people starting out regardless of what folk think.

As the saying goes, "Life is what you make it". If we all turned up to just one event with the frame of mind, "this is going to be a great, fun day no matter what !!",
The problem is that some are going with the mindframe of winning and there's others who are going for the gossip.

Don't get me wrong I'm sure we all have a competitve streak but for some it's at all costs.

Why do I go? I love watching dogs run, just seeing shot after shot of dogs with their eyes totally focused on the chase says it all to me.

The other reason is the people, the banter me and Vicky have is priceless, Mark rattling over the dogs always tickles me. Ricky who's probably one of the biggest characters in whippet racing, Steve Boyd who has a nack of making me blush, the domestics between the likes of Colin & Alison and Gary & Dee, Geoff and his stories, the list goes on with all of you getting a mention.

I remember Tony after going the english derby commented that it's like one big family and he's probably right, yeah we have our arguments but don't be sly and don't say anything that you wouldn't have the courage to say to someone's face because it's the bitching and the jealousy more than anything that would ruin whippet racing.

Maybe I'm a bit sensitive but I've gotten nothing but scowls and dirty looks from some certain members of the whippet racing fraternity this year, maybe they don't like it that they're in their little clicks trying to be a bunch of childish bullies, and the fact that I don't give a monkeys really winds them up :- " .

I'll keep going racing and having a laugh and a joke with anyone who wants to join in, I've met new people this year that I've never spoken to before. It's a great atmosphere when you can just appreciate other people having fun even when you're not involved. Be nice on occasion though if some people would lighten up, there's been some carry ons that I've heard of that seems to be a load of fuss over nothing.

Elise (aka Fleesh) who wants to make it clear that she is not a sweet innocent angel and is probably just as guilty as EVERYONE else  . (Before anyone starts getting personal o:) )

you should all come over to the NORTH WEST where whippet racing is treated as it should be a great fun pass time for all the family :clown: where everyone mucks in to help each other out be it club or open there is allways a social gathering at the end of the racing  . We don't get a huge turnout for our open events but almost everyone goes home happy :)) anyone who doesn't leave with a smile on their face its because theyve got one hell of a HANGOVER :x and a bit stiff after sleeping in the car because they had only planned on doing the one day but stayed for the second  Think the HOG ROAST was the culprit this year :- "
