Kiah looks a little darling

I agree with the others that pups should stay with their mother and siblings till at least 8 weeks. I actually prefer to keep the till they are 9. But then again 7 weeks and 4 days or 8 weeks exactly is not much different.

Do not leave Kiah alone with your other dog. When they are together and Kiah gets bit excited divert her attention away from your other dog. Use some stuffed toys to get her to wrestle with. You can attach some toy to a rope, drag it around do she will chase it and see if your other dog will join in. If you can get him to play alongside her without being monstered, he will find it easier to accept her. But if he shows any sign of aggression towards her again, make sure he understands that is just NOT acceptable; growl at him and put him out of the room. Also she will obviously need much more excersise than he does. See if she will chase a ball, that is a good way to get her tired and will stop her pestering the old dog too much. Some whippets even learn to bring the ball back :) . Mine do, most of the time :)

You have her now (regardless of when she left her mother) and shes adorable  I hope that things improve. Im sure they will. Agree with the chill out space/crate.

Yes we have a crate which she sleeps in and its proved a very useful buy from Ebay - good value at around £25 too. I am sure that things will settle down between them - Monty is not usually a violent dog, he usually rolls over and submits to other dogs when out.

Once she is able to go out with him on/off the lead he will begin to accept her better I think.

Thanks again for the great info everyone - your experience is very valuable.

Will post more pics soon - of Monty too who is a really good dog and very unusual being a Dachund/collie cross!

Dave :)

Hi Whippynit,

We got her from a breeder near Worksop who own a working farm.

Will post details later and her breeding lines.

We are in Willington so not very far at all! :)

Both my 'boys'- Alfie (Whippet) and Norman (Italian Greyhound) absolutely HATED Mabel when she was a puppy! I couldn't leave her alone with them, since she just wouldn't get the hint that they didn't want her bouncing on them! :- "

She actually has a piece out of her ear where Norman bit her one day, and she regularly got pinned and bitten by either of them when she just wouldn't take a growl as a 'NO'

My bitches were all very tolerant of her- Alice's mum Dolly (IG) actually took her over as her 'baby' :huggles: But the boys were both very uncomfortable with her. I just had to watch them very carefully to make sure she didn't annoy them too much.

As soon as she stopped being a baby puppy, at about 4 months, and became a BITCH  their attitude changed, and she can get away with anything with either of them now! o:)

I'm sure your older dog will accept her in time- just make sure you dont' let her jump on him, and give him lots of individual cuddles so he doesn't feel left out.

Good luck :luck:
