i dont like to hunt in the summer because i think rabbits / hares are that bit easier to catch.. compare to the ones in the winter thats all  and its not to warm for the dogs.

Not down here there not - they were bloody shifting on friday night....probably faster than they are in the winter!!

payment in the post, lolwell i cant add a lot to that but the weather was warm and if it wasnt for looking for a water trough on the farm to keep the dogs wett we would of had a lot more,

brindle run well but didnt quiet know what he was letting himself in for the 1st field he ws let out and had a quick 5 rabbits in the bag by the gate he was wondering do i get a rest, lol

well helen i recon you worked harder then the dogs in and out all night but the night was fun,

kat and jess got 1 retreave for the farmer as he had been loosin a few chickens there and inbetween the dogs kept the rabbits down but like i said any time you feel like you want to have a night just text me or pm me on the huntin life lol opps sorry iam banned again, lol

i enjoyed the night and recon we where closer to the 2 hrs rabbiting so not a bad night and iam of tonight
Cant believe how long it took to find that water!

Brindle got the hang of it in the 2nd field tho and like you said Mark he is a good dog with good style for long nights at the side of the landi - just needs to be fitter!! I know my poor dogs are not as fit as they normally are, tis hard to get them fit just walking when i had no car for almost 3 months, walking just isnt enough for them.....they normally going to the beach and running a few miles behind the car everyday!! Lazy F*****s have had a 3 month holiday!!! (w00t) :teehee: :teehee:

But never mind the dogs being fit.....im fitter!!

It was a good night and we shall do it again im sure ;)

yes give him some fitness and he will do even better,

i was out last night with a pup had a few as well but i cant do photos lol maybe you can,

and the water situation was bad on that farm its situations like that you have to say no to the rabbits and put the dogs back in,

nice 1 . cracking night by the look of it . we do the same . if farmer or landowner wants them controled , we do it . keep the farmer happy and our permission safe . some dont agree but needs must . keep it up .

I thought they were all NON PEDS as they are all cross breeds just like people moving to devon and cornwall from other parts of the country think there devonions or cornish......it really makes me :)) :))
us emmits bring all the good dogs down with us to cornwall so be happy, as if it wasnt for us the dogs would be all cross eyed with funny ears, cause we all know they like to keep it in the family down here  :lol
Hi madman

From one emmet to another PMSL

I was just checking my pup for cross eyes and funny ears when I remembered she's an emmet as well so she's quite safe LOL :teehee: :teehee

Well much to alot of your's surprise (as i know most of you said i wouldnt go!) me and Mark went out lamping last nite and dare i say it....it was a cracking nite!! lol :teehee:
Me and Brindle got to Marks at 11pm or a bit before and i had a nosey round at his new kennels (that are very posh, or at least will be). Mark decided to take Kat and Jess, so in the landrover we got and off we went. Me and Brindle have never lamped from a landrover before as ive always had my doubts about it, "how can you drive in a field with a landrover and not scare everything away", but these were bloody big fields and must be used to seeing Mark!!

I didnt know how Brindle would work from the side of the landi as he has only ever run with a quad on the farm during the day and there is a big difference in running with the landi and walking on a slip, but i have to say i was very surprised, he took to it very well.

The dogs took turns, Kat and Jess worked together and Brindle worked on his own.....and i bloody worked with them all!! jumping in and out of the landi picking up rabbits every 2 minuets

Anyway it was a cracking nite like ive already said, poor brindle is no-where near as fit as he could be or as Marks dogs and he was absolutly knackared after a couple of fields (and it was bloody hot last nite for all the dogs), so i stopped him and left him in the back of the landi where he was happy to stay  and we carried on with Kat and Jess for a little longer.

As most of you know me and Mark have never really seen eye to eye but i think, well hope that last nite we both seen a different side to each other and can now finally put our differences aside and enjoy a few nites of good hunting with our dogs. I have to be honest and eat my words (humble pie eating) but Marks dogs are a credit to him and are Craking little working dogs, i really enjoyed watching them last nite. And believe it or not, Mark is actually a decent guy  ..... Ill have my payment in cash please mate! (only joking)

So here are a couple of pictures from the nite, about 3 hours and 42 rabbits......

Wow 42 rabbits in 2-3 hours that's some haul well done you 2 and the 3 dogs, must have been a busy few hours, Well done and it's nice to see people put their differences aside and agree to differ, but still enjoy a night out hunting together.

Madman sorry if I sound daft but how do you go about lamping from a Landi, I've not hunted for quite a few years now because of circumstances, but have now got a pup and plan to do a little. I've only ever lamped off of a slip whilst walking and even then have been tripped by the dog seeing something that I've missed and darted across if front of me. At first I thought that the dog was sitting in the back of an open backed 4x4 and would jump out over the side to chase the rabbits but then saw helsbels photos showed an enclosed back to your Landi, so I'm assuming the dog continuously runs alongside your moving 4x4, do you use just the headlights or do you use a hand held lamp as well and how do you train a dog not to try to run across the front off you.

Slippy it must be nice to be able to hunt your own land and pick and choose when you do it. I have only ever hunted

in the winter, but that was for sport not as a pest controller like madman is. We seem to have an excessive amount

of rabbits in Cornwall this year causing vast amounts of damage to farmers crops

gallery_29402_1047_4293.jpg

I walk a bridleway with my pup past this field regularly and this damage was caused overnight, bearing in mind

this area is over the width of a football field. I regularly see in excess of 40-50 rabbits in different 1/2 - 1

acre fields locally during the daytime which is something I have never seen before, and bear in mind that madman &

helsbels managed to catch 42 rabbits in 2-3 hours, when the figures I remember from the past are that you only run

1 out of 10 rabbits in a field when out lamping and out of these 1 in 6 make it to safety even with the most

exerienced dog, so we're looking at close on 500 rabbits in just those fields at that time, so as you can see our

local farmers are desperate for their pest controllers to continue to hunt through the summer.

I'm always quick to pick up on any mention of 'farm' when i'm talking to people and it has really paid off!!! After becoming friendly with a mum at pre-school i 've got us 600 acres of permission (w00t) I'm well chuffed ;) Shane met up with the farmer tonight and him and Leon couldn't wait to get started so they have borrowed a 4x4 to do it MB stylie  I'll keep you posted
