There is nothing wrong at all in keeping your dogs outside, IMO working dogs should be kept outside as they tend to keep there condition better when working the cold weather.

My dogs don't settle in the house and after a couple of hours want to return to there kennels.

I do however have under bench heaters on if it's really cold.

the sleep area in mine is warmer than my kitchen in winter , im putting cladding inside hopefully this summer, its ok looking at photos but you are really best to have a look and see for yourself and feel the warmth or coolness of various constructions, mine was planned and built to order so i hoped id covered every angle? also thought needs to go to the covering of the end of the wire mesh as can cause a serious injury if not covered correctly, im happy with mine and so it seems are the dogs, i had a raised sleeping area made to accomodate duvets beds etc and to raise the dogs free from draughts, they do have plastic beds under the raised area so they have a choice too? 1 heat lamp is left on all year round in real warm weather is just at night, winter can go up to 3 heaters. i would quite happily sleep in there should the need arise! lol  :thumbsup:
also my dogs have to freedom of the garden 24/7 should they so wish?

Your kennels sound really nice. :thumbsup: If I had the room I would consider kennels for time out and nighttimes, but only for the next generation of dogs. Fred and Stan are too used to being in the house now
