On Monday night Owen must have banged his eye .Yesterday morning it was a bit puffy so I bathed it and he seemed better when I got home from work. This morning it was definitely swollen and looked cloudy.

I rang the vets from work then rang OH to tell him he needed to finish work early so I could have the car .

The vet took one look at his eye and put some drops in as expected they turned his eye green. He says he has an ulcer and a half and is no on 2 diferent types of eye drops and pain killers. The problem is we go away on Saturday so and Owen was going to kennels so we now have to take him with us .The things these whippets will do to avoid going to kennels.

We think on Monday night the dogs were all being daft when I was feeding them and we think Zoe barged into him and knocked him into one of the cages banging his eye

Poor Owen I do hope he gets better soon :huggles: but be very careful about what the vets do to his eye .

My Mum's Boxer had the same thing recently and the vets kept rubbing the eye with a cotton bud and puting drops in to burn the ulcer away . This went on for weeks and the eye was getting worse .Then they wanted to knock him out and scrape the whole eye surface . My Mum was so worried about it , as he is 10 , that she phoned a vet who breeds Boxers and he said that he uses CLINAGEL ointment . Mum demanded that she be given this by her own vet and the eye cleared up by itself in 10 days .

Poor Owen, hope he's better soon. My lad had one (small ulcer on his lower lid I think from a grass seed) it did heal really quickly though. :luck:

My old terrier had an ulcer, didn't respond to anything until I rang the lady who writes the Dog World column. She suggested cod liver oil. Got my Vets OK and is cleared up in 9 days.

Oh bless poor little Owen - hope he gets better really soon, lots of huggles coming his way :huggles:
