Just had to drop Ozzy off at the vets............he looked so puzzled (more than he usually does  ) Last Tuesday I took him cos he was shaking his head a lot and as my eyesight aint so good I got my OH to look when he came home from work. Nothing in his ears but a weird yellow crusty patch where his ears are at the top of his head. At first we thought he had been in the bin and got food stuck but when we tried to remove it his fur came out  the vet gave him a weeks worth of antibiotics and confirmed the inside of his ears are clean. He now also has a smaller patch on the other side and little lumps on the inside of one of his ear flaps??

Just wondered if anyone has come across this before? the vet didnt know what it could be. Ill try put a photo on tonight.

As many of you know, I hate Ozzy having anything wrong with him after all his problems as a pup. He just doesnt understand what is going on. Cant wait till tonight when I pick him up after work.

Tina

Poor Ozzy! Sorry I've never come across anything similar. Hope the vets can sort him out. :luck:

sounds like a fungal infection, but not one hundred per cent

Hope Ozzy is better soon... :luck: :luck:

Sorry to hear Ozzy is having troubles Tina, Kane once had an ear mite type thing which only affected the outside of his ears they looked like they had been chewed because they became dry n crusty he had the lumps too  we got some cream from the vet but I can't remember what it was sorry, but it cleared up anyway, what Janis says sounds good too or he might have caught it and its become infected, hope the vet has some answers for you x

Poor Ozzy

Hope he is feeling better soon

Awwww poor Ozzy.......hope you get it sorted soon hun :luck:  ........lots of licks from his brother Beau xxxxx

Oh dear :( Poor little Ozzy - hope he comes home thinking he's had a nice day out at a friend's place!

Can't say I've seen anything similar to what you describe  but it might just be an allergic reaction to something or other?

Hope your little lad recovers very quickly  xx

 thanks everyone for your ideas it really helps. Ozzy enjoyed himself i think - they all remember him from his head injury so they spoil him rotten (they know he is a bit, well alot batty (w00t) ) we are non the wiser, skin scrapings were done but nothing showed under the microscope so its gone off to the lab, and he has 2 further weeks of antibiotics. I felt sick leaving him there but when he came home he ate Vinnies tea - then his own and now he is snoring laid on the settee :- Ill let you know the outcome - if there is one :))

Glad to hear his day out hasn't affected him in any way - other than to make him hungrier

Good luck with "the cure" :luck:

Thought Id put an update on about Ozzy's ear problem. Still looking the same, thats after 2 lots of antibiotics  I had to leave him again yesterday as the lab results also came back negative for ringworm and his head and ears looked worse. The vet decided to do a biopsy and took skin from where his ears join the top of his head as he has patches of the crusty stuff there too and it was preferable to taking nicks out of his ear flaps. I had a phone call from the vet during the day to say they had done his bloods prior to his op which showed elevated enzymes in his liver - so they recommened a liver scan while he was sedated  I felt sick all day at work, worried about him and rang the vet before I left work to collect him. She said the scan didnt show up any problem with his liver but they are keeping a check on him so more bloods due in a few weeks time, and the biopsy was done so poor Oz has stitches on both sides of his head :( and still has scabby ears bless him.

He has got another bottle of antibiotics, back for a check up on tuesday and stitches out in 10 days. I will try to put some pictures on tomorrow. He seems to be ok in every other way although he is drinking alot today (or maybe Im just scaring myself :sweating: )

By the way, total so far about £720 at the vets. Hope they find out whats happening soon :b He is only 3 and has been through so much already he looks about 13 :(

Poor little chap :( General anaesthetic will dehydrate him so he should drink more naturally for a little while.

I do hope they can come up with some solution soon ...... please give Ozzy lots of hugs from all of us here :huggles: xxxxxx

Oh goodness poor lad he has been through the mill lately... :(

Big hugs from brother Beau :huggles: :huggles: :huggles: :huggles: :huggles: :huggles:

Poor little chap, I hope it is nothing serious. Had you thought of trying a natural remedy like Manuka honey or lavender oil? (Applied on to the ear). I had a fungal skin infection that nothing kept away for very long except for a wonderful Aloe Vera and Propolis cream. Since I started using that it hasn't recurred at all. PM me if you would like details. :luck: :luck: :luck: to Ozzy.

Poor wee man

Sorry to hear that he is having all these problems. sending lots of :huggles: and get well wishes
