BBC1-For anyone who might be interested to watch !!!! Won't be pleasant viewing, I don't suppose :(

Dog-fighting Undercover

Reporters spend 17 months infiltrating dog-fighting gangs in the UK and Europe, capturing footage of the events and discovering how American pitbull terriers are being sold back into Britain. The programme examines cases where children have fallen victim to attacks by the breed, including five-year-old Ellie Lawrenson, who was killed on New Year's Day, and asks whether laws banning them have completely failed..

I see that BBC northern ireland has Spotlight on at 9pm tonight;

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/northern_ireland/6969651.stm

It's about an undercover investigation into dog fighting and the reporter was a spectator at a dog fight in Tandragee.

The Panorama programme will then be on in Northern Ireland at 10.35pm

agree with you completely.the guy does deserves a medal. its a terrible blood sport. :( dont think ill be able to watch it.the images will stay with me for too long.

just finished watching Panorama "its the deed not the breed" yeah right its the breed 100% just happens bad attitude bred for fighting killing machines mixed with knobhead owners spells disaster

i agree compleatly. its not the dogs fault that its been conditioned from birth to kill, its the dickheads that own them. what about poor emily's uncle? 8 weeks served 4 for his dog killing her but his mum is up for manslaughter ( in liverpool crown court next week), he should be too! its a total insult! is that all a 5 year old childs life is worth these days

any dog is capable of being visiouse if it aint raised correctly but these bastards should strung up for what they have turned these dogs into!

what about the poor dog that was electrocuted after the fight! im not ashamed to say i cried when they described his fate :(

i have taped it. my little girl was sat with me, didnt really want her to watch it

its a good job u didnt let her hely it was very disturbing  :( :(

yeah, i saw the first few mins, then decided it was time to turn over.........not to sure i want to watch it either :(

I just hope this doesn't make people start up the whole debate on all bull breeds now. I have a staffie and i trust her 100% and any k9ers that have met her will tell you. The staff is known as the nanny dog because they are so good with children.

I feel sorry for these poor dogs the only reason they are like this is because the morans who breed them for fighting and the people who buy them for fighting don't give them the right upbringing. Yes once a fighting dog always a fighting dog and unfortunately there is nothing you can do to help these Pitbulls but it isn't their fault !!!!!!

These nasty nasty people need hanging the poor dogs dont deserve what they put them through.

I found the program very upsetting and was in tears many a time but i will not give up on trying to help people understand its not the breed its the deed.

Rant over

quite agree with you, my friend has a staffie, and she is the most loving, gentle little thing.....its just awful what is happening to some of these dogs........they have been given such a bad name...and its not their fault

makes me so cross

I had planned to watch it - but got a phonecall from Ireland just as it was starting so only saw the pictures

However, I have known some fantastic bull breeds - Ruby of course I've met and she is a big love

and my friend had a pit x staffy called Gromit who was the biggest dollop of softness you could ever wish to meet. Sadly she's no longer with us :(

If you take a powerful dog, fill its early life with harsh experiences and reward it for fighting - you have a monster..........but I do not agree with destroying dogs because of what they are capable of in the wrong hands the right hands should be allowed to own the breeds they love imo

..........food for thought, the breed responsible for most attacks on people is the Border Collie - but I've yet to see a campaign to ban those

Border Collie...........................REALLY, i didnt know that

ya learn something new everyday

Yup, my friend Gromit's mum was a vet nurse - and said Border Collies have this reputation in veterinary circles

- there's also a toy breed right up there on the list (can't remember which but it's something like a yorkshire terrier) - but they can't do the kind of damage that a large breed can, so I think are less worrying

The labrador is responsible for more attacks than the Pit Bull, and in the USA the most dangerous dogs are the Rottweiler. However these dogs make great family dogs in the right hands. It is unfair that one breed gets all the name calling when every dog is capable of hurting or even killing people if they aren't brought up the right way.

I didnt know about the collie i knew they can be snappy thanks for imforming Charlie just helps even more to prove my point.
