Paw Injury

I noticed that Grace was biting one of her back feet a lot, and when I investigated found that the main pad had been injured - just a small piece out of it but quite deep. Not the main bit that she would walk on fortunately. Would you leave it to heal on its own or take her to the vet? Not sure what they could do other than bandage it? Thanks in advance for any advice.

if she isn't in any discomfort as such, like crying when she walks or not putting her foot down, i would leave it to heal on its own, and just keep it clean and dry,

I know of people (whippets) that have had paws heal very quick by using cows udder cream. Its for cracked teats.

Its got to be safe as well if they can risk it entering the human food chain :luck:

I had the exact same thing with Skye recently, she spent one evening licking and nibbling at it and I thought I'd have to take her to the vet but the next day she was sound on it and although still licked at it after her walk this soon stopped. I'd just apply common sense when walking her and keep her on the lead it she wants to go charging about on rough/stony ground.

Skye was fine within a couple of days :luck:

Thanks everyone for the helpful advice. She seems reasonably OK on it today but I will give her quiet grassy walks for a few days and will ask at the farming supplies place for udder cream for the next time it happens!
