Marks and Spencer are excellent.  I got a very good price and no excess and they paid up within a week for Tiny's asthma. :)
Petplan have given me nothing but grief recently about my cat who has diabetes....

Do M+S do life cover, as opposed to only 12 months per illness. I'm with More Than they're good but the excess for a pedigree dog is.... erm.... excessive.

Yes, M&S do life cover, they don't cover existing conditions obviously, which is why I'm still with Petplan with my diabetic cat.

Hi Yes i think i may have to stay with petplan for one of my girls as she was poorly when she was a pup and they were very good and paid without question and if the illness was to re occur i would not be covered elsewhere !! I will certainly consider M & S for my other girl and our new addition when he arrives. Thnks for your comments :- ) (Petplan do offer the life cover which is a bonus -its just the increase and the overall cost is a negative point)

Is it only me who sees the similarities between insurance companies and bookmakers? :p
I prefer to just keep a few grand aside for hefty vets fees.

Nope there are others who think the same as you. I guess it depends on what people are able to do.

For me I'd rather put aside a bit a month to the insurance company to never find myself in a position where I have to choose between money and my dog's life.

Some people only put aside the amount of a premium. If I'd done that I wouldn't have had enough to cover the claims on Chelsea that I've had to make and that would be putting money away over 8 years. It's MORE than paid for itself.

Just personal preference. It's a gamble either way.

Don't get me wrong - I would FIND the money if I had to, but th epeace of mind in knowing that I don't have to is well worth it for me.

Just catching up on the million threads that have been put on in the two weeks I have been computerless, and this is one very close to my heart :- "

Having just had sedation, xrays, three hour surgery, medication, bandage changes etc we are up to £1757 without the further medication, bandages and follow up xrays under sedation in two weeks I am VERY happy to have insurance

Also I was very pleased to discover that Ollie's future Hydrotherapy treatment will also be covered as well.

Although I only own two dogs and therefore the monthly payments are manageable, I cannot promote insurance enough. It might be a different story if I had lots more as I might feel better putting money away each month, but I'm not there yet (w00t) Like Wendy, there is absolutely no doubt that I would find the money, this way I don't have two, and that makes me feel a lot happier as I get to buy lots more exciting things for my boys instead
