Oh no! :( Thinking of you all. I hope it's good news. Whippets are so tough..... :luck:

Thankyou so much everyone :huggles:

Andy has just spoken to the vet(I'm not fit to speak to people just now :b ) and he is almost sure it is a spinal injury, but she moved her tail a little tonight and when he tested her reaction on her back legs there was a little movement which she couldnt do either earlier :D

He has given her steroids and painkillers and she is on a drip and will have to stay in the whole weekend but things are more positive than before , she is not out of the woods yet and he said that if things continue to improve it will be a very long journey for her, but as long as she is home with us we will deal with it whatever it takes :huggles:

Thankyou again everyone your positive thoughts are working we really appreciate your help and support :huggles:

:huggles: Keep fighting my precious girl :huggles: , :luck: :luck: :luck: :luck:

Christ Lesley, sorry to read this! :( Don't know if this gives you any comfort but our Buffy went rigid with paralysis when she was kicked by a horse. None of her limbs moved for first few hours. As the hours passed, it slowly improved to her having poor limb relexes and poor function in her front right leg alone. (she'd taken the blow to her shoulder)

Big doses of steroids really improved her over the following days and I'd say 3 weeks afterwards she had normal function of her leg again.

It was probably one of the worst moments I'd experienced in my life with a dog because when she went down from the blow and I tried to pick her up she was unconscious. I was relieved when she opened her eyes and tried moving her neck but was totally mortified when I realised her limbs were completely rigid. I was terrified that she was permanently paralysed and that she'd spend her last moments going to the vets in that state only to be told she'd be put to sleep. It was an awful moment where I felt that if she really was paralysed, I'd of preferred it if she hadn't of woken up from the accident. :(

I know it's really, really hard to talk about this now (you'll have probably noticed it never got on K9 as the last thing I needed was lectures about dogs and horses of which I'm well aware)

I'm sure your in a state with what you've been through and I suspect it'll haunt you for a long while but I just wanted to give you some hope that they can and do recover quickly.

Stay strong Sienna. :luck:

Jac
