Came down this morning to find the kitchen floor splattered with vomit and diarhoea :x :x :x (not what you want first thing in the a.m.).

Think it was Nana as her tummy was a little upset yesterday. They both seem really bouncy and happy though, and Nana more so than usual so I don't know. Any idea how I can tell which it was?

I made them some rice and chicken last night, for this morning anyway- should I give them breakfast or leave it till later?

Thank you

Actually DEFINATELY Nana- she's sitting on my lap and has just farted

:x :x :x :x :x

I wouldnt feed Nana if her tummy has been upset - for 24 hours - so she can have somehting at tea time?

Poor Nana :(

Poor you having a nice mess to clean up :x

Thank you- I'll leave it till tea time

awwww, poor nana.give her cool boiled water to drink.later you could give her some plain yoghurt the type that has friendly bacteria in will help.if shes had a little tummy upset the bacteria will multiply inside her tum and help to overcome and wipe out the bad bacteria.ive used it for years even with very small pups and it usually works a treat.you might have to put a little honey in to sweeten it so she will eat it.

Agree with all the above - Hope nanas feeling better soon. Oscar used to hav a lot of trouble with his tum - I got lots of advice on K9.

Thank you everyone, she's feeling really well and wants her breakfast (can't understand why I being so slow with it  ) so I'm going out to get some good yoghurt for her. :)

Oh dear. Ours usually has this after eating something nasty (and long dead) that he's found. Usually he doesn't want to eat anyway, so we leave it a while, and start off with yoghourt etc. She'll probably over it soon, lets hope so anyway :luck:

:huggles: Hope Nana is feeling better soon

:( :x :x :x I went out to buy her yoghurt and came back and the floor was again splattered with diarroeah, this time trodden in all over the kitchen. AAAAARGH. Poor baby, she seems a bit subdued now. Do you think I should take her for her afternoon walk or keep her quietly at home?

might be best to keep her in while shes got an upset tum.let her rest and take it easy. :)

:( poor Nana, and you have my sympathy - 5 days of splattery diarrhoea up the kitchen walls too, hope she's feeling better soon :huggles:

does wonders for ones own diet :D

Oh god, just as bad this morning- well a little different- a small amount of solid in it, which is very strange as she didn't eat anything yesterday, though there was a lot of grass in it, and this morning when I let her out she spent about 10mins out there eating grass and going, so I tried to stop her eating the grass which was difficult as I want her to go outside to go.

Anyway the noises her tummy is making are rather alarming. I read the thread in FAQ (strange noises etc) and I think she's probably starving- she's normally got a really healthy appetite, but obviously I can't feed her.

Do you think I should take her to the vet?

To be honest she'll probably be fine as long as she's well in herself ... you could give them a call and see if they'll leave anything for you without seeing her. I'm quite happy to give people something like Diarsanyl (a paste to replace lost electrolytes and dry up the runny-ness) without seeing the dog, provided I've spoken to them and there's nothing worrying in the history. You could start a few small meals of pasta/rice and boiled chicken or white fish today - a handful at a time throughout the day. :luck:

It's a good idea to have Tree bark powder in store for this,it's brilliant for upset tummies.Available from Dorwest.

Hope she's better soon.

my dogs always eat grass when they want to be sick or have an upset tum.i dont know what it does exactly but it usually sorts it out.they like a particular type of grass too.we call it skutch grass.dunno what else its called.they usually bring a bit of vomit or bile up with the grass in it.after that everything usually settles back to normal.if theres a bit of solid in it its probably cos its coming together more and is getting more solid cos shes over the worst.give her an egg soft boiled.that usually binds them up a bit.i used to whisk the egg white up and add a little honey to taste and feed them that as it would bind up the runs.but i think a soft boiled egg will do the same and shell probably enjoy it if shes hungry too.as she starts to improve you could add a little wholemeal bread.which if its the type that has bran in will also help to bind her up.hope shes better soon.dont worry! :)

Thank you every one. I gave her a little rice boiled in chicken stock for supper, and (touch wood) it seems to be staying put, and the ghastly tummy noises seem to have stopped, I'll give her a little bit of porridge soon and then hope everything is back to normal.

Olivia (and a much happier Nana and a Tessie who refuses to eat if Nana isn't allowed to)

yyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy :D

No mess this morning and a very happy bouncy hungry Nana

Glad Nana is much better :) Upset tums are a worry.

Megan had a terrible upset tummy a few weeks ago and I couldn't get it to clear up even with a jag and tabs from the vet. Chicken and rice wasn't working either. I called the lady I got her from and she said give her Coley fish mashed up with some of the inside of a baked potato and kaolin 2ml twice a day. I only gave her the kaolin the 1st day then the potato and Coley mixture for a couple of days and it worked wonders. She has been fine since touch wood!
