Eddie threw himself/jumped/slipped off the big bank in front of our house yesterday morning into the road, after a cat. He slipped past my hubby at the front door (man delivering my phone had knocked) and that was that.
For those of you who've visited us you'll know how high that bank is, luckily the cat took the low route, *only* about an 8 foot drop - which for an old lad like Eddie is quite bad enough. He landed on his chin, and presumably his knees buckled, and he slid across the gravelled tarmac.
LUCKILY, and I do mean luckily, he's *only* ripped his knees and chin up. The car coming (because there had to be one didn't there?!) was going slowly, and easily stopped and avoided Ed.
It was just after half 8 and I was just getting dressed, and wished I hadn't been as if I'd still been in bed Eddie would have been in with me, and safe.
Anyway, I flushed his wounds well with warm salt water, and sprayed them with derma cleanse and applied derma gel - there were no bones broken, and he's not lame - though of course he's a bit stiff today! I've got some Inflamex here, which is a Devil's Claw and Yucca mix designed to relieve pain and inflammation and that seems to have helped I think. All seems to be healing ok, and the vet was happy to leave as is.
But honestly, I thought elderly dogs were easier on the nerves.... :teehee:
