Thanks Eve - I know I should keep waiting - its been nearly a month now but is still very raw, I guess I hope that at least the search will take the edge of it.
I am also hoping that there might be a pup from a litter being bred from a half brother of my girl might be a possibility, but that won't be til Xmas ......and I'd quite like two anyway!
Hi Lucy

It was about a month after Peat died that I took on Toddy. Peat had to be PTS 1 week before my 2 week holiday in Central America, I then found Toddy about a week later. It was only about 5 weeks in all. Definately not enough time. Keep looking by all means but give yourself a bit more time. A month is not really enough unless the dog you are taking on is in desperate need like Toddy was.

A close relative of your lovely girl may be the way to go but you may have the same problem as you do with colour, too many memories.

Christmas is only 11 weeks away tho' :)

There are sometimes whippets needing rehomed together on ePupz.

Sarah (whippetwise on k9) Whippet rescue Ireland may be able to help http://www.whippetrescueireland.com/ They will transport whippets and greyhounds to new homes in the UK. She gets in quite a few whippets.

Best of Luck

Eve

Thanks you all for you help and advice - we found our perfect girl after all. I wasn't in a hurry but she turned up and is exactly what we wanted.....she is very assertive and full of beans, came from a wonderful breeder and is very different in looks and temperment from my lovely Sadie. She is a much adored member of the family already. I guess the answer is the time is right when the right pup or dog turns up

This is Molly:

Molly is gorgeous  So pleased you found what you were looking for  Wishing you many years of happiness :luck:

:teehee: :D :D :D

These things have a way of happening.

Molly is georgous. How old is she?

Looks like you will have your hands full and will not have time to dwell on your sad parting from Sadie durning the next few months .

Memories of Sadie and the lovely times you had together will always be there.

Best of luck with Molly

Many congrats on your new girl  They definitely have a way of finding you - only a month ago we were perfectly happy with two whippets and now via a few mad coincidences we have our whippet x saluki, Emmy.

Really pleased that you found you new family member.

Good luck with your lovely little Molly  :luck:

Jinny arrived with me just 2 days after my beloved collie, Fizz, died suddenly and unexpectedly. Jinny was "booked" before Fizz died but she took so much of the pain away just by being there and needing me .......... I had less time to grieve for Fizz, although I still do to this dayx

Molly will help you and timing is never wrong - you have to go with your heart  xxx

Thanks for all the good wishes - she is a completely different pup from Sadie, much more assertive, energetic and boistrous.....she has worn us all out already :p

She is already typical whippet and runs for the house if its a bit chilly or the grass is wet, but had a lovely sunbathe yesturday :p

She gives life 200% for about 3 hours and then passes out, preferably wrapped around someone's neck puffing puppy breath in their ear.

She is certainly a tonic and doesn's allow any time to brood - bt the time she has a nap I'm about ready to doze off with her. I've a feeling I won't be getting much of anything else done for a few weeks ;)

My Springer bitch has been just brilliant, I was worried she would find it touch as she is very much a one person dog and can be quite jealous. She has really proved me wrong though...she has been very maternal and protective, even herding my mums bitch away from Molly. I'm making sure she gets lots of love and individual time - but tbh she seems to be enjoying playing with her new baby and its given ehr a bit of a new lease of life.

Aren't dogs just amazing?

Molly is adorable  So pleased you found the perfect whippie to join your family :)

I found that with Toddy arriving so soon after Peat passed away. No time to grieve!

She sounds the prefect tonic

Molly is adorable. I am delighted that you have found your little girl and that she is settling in so well with her new family.

Molly is beautiful  I am so glad that you found the perfect girl to join your family. It sounds as though she has settled in perfectly :huggles:

Re the subject of puppy prices, I was very shocked to hear of a litter sold on gumtree. for £300 each. They were by a 19 month old dog out of a 9 month old bitch, in the same ownership (a mistake!) And allowed to go to new homes at 6 weeks! I do not know more of the story, I was quite sickened by that much.

Molly looks fab!! Glad you found yourself a little girl.
