My 6 month old puppy keeps shaking his head and one ear is slightly red with slightblood, it's not overly bad but it cleared with drops now back after a few weeks. Anyone any ideas or suggestions?? Hes slightly red in between his toes also noticed today?

He needs to go back to the vet. If he's shaking his ear it could be a lot more painful or itchy than it seems so you need to get the right treatment asap.

It cleared with the drops. I was going to try eliminate things around the house before taking him as we get charged just to go obv if needs be we will be taking him. I'm wondering if its an allergy as it's only in one ear. Just bathed his foot.in coconut oil.

As lay-persons & non-vets, we can’t diagnose or prescribe anything, & aren’t allowed to do more than make suggestions about 1st Aid care, & even if we could, legally, none of us have actually seen this dog, his ears, his toes, ...

Even photos are not adequate for an accurate Dx, without such crucial bits as vital signs - is the dog alert & happy, lethargic & indifferent, do their pupils react equally to changes in light, what color is the mucosa, how quick is their refill rate when U blanch the gums with a fingertip?...


Are the reddened webs between the toes, on his forefeet —- or his hind feet?
I would definitely mention them to the vet - what was he just treated for?
Was it ear mites, a bacterial infection, a yeast overgrowth?... Other?

The drops were to stop irritation, kill mites and to clean. He's happy in himself just the itching his ear that's bothering him but he's not whining?? Very bizarre. His toes aren't that bad to be honest it's his front paw. He's on harringtons puppy food.

Great job checking and noticing things, like redness between the toes.
I do the end-to-end check up too, almost every day - paws, ears, the entire body from nose to tail.
Keep doing this.

What is the point of asking for advice if you don't want to hear the answers? You need to take your puppy to the vet. The paw could be inflamed because he's licking it as a way of coping with ear pain. He needs treatment.

I would consult your vet and explain your concern as we on this forum cannot diagnose your puppy with a condition

The problem is with ear infections that they often work away deep inside the ear doing untold damage before there are visible signs on the outside. The longer you leave it the worse this will get.
I once had a neighbour who insisted on some crazy home method for ear infections and her dog almost lost his hearing.
So get your dog to a vet asap.
