I'm sure this has been discuss here before, but I couldn't find it :b .

Esme was born on 7th November which makes her 5 months 3 weeks old. She is now 21lbs and 18" tall, neither of her parents or her half sister who I have (Tess) are that tall- Tess is 19". Has she grown early or is she going to be a giant.

Kim says that Bean is 16" which sounds much more reasonable.

I also think that her knuckles are quite big-

She looks lovely, perhaps a little high at the whithers at this time. They change all the time, I wouldnt worry about her height until and unless you intend to do something with her where height is important.

Genevieve is also close to 18" (i think, she struggled when i tried to meassure her). They are past that rapid growth spurt, now. They will still grow bit more but not so fast. I am wishing for 19" or at least not much over. :)

Well lida, if genevieve is anything like her grandmother she will be way over 19 inches.Bigger than most dogs in fact!

Kane is 24lb(whoppet boy) around 18 1/2" I'd say, will have a proper measure later, big knuckles, huge feet (w00t) he is becomeing more whippet shaped now and slimming out sort of thing, I think it's hard to see them as they will be when grown because they go through strange stages, at this stage Spry was all legs but kane has shorter legs but a bigger head

I have two totally different sized whippets (both Males too) Oscar is 22 inches and Kobi 20 and half inches.

Kobi grew is the same way as Kane Lesley - looked like his head was larger and shorter legs where Oscar was all legs as a puppy too.

All really helpful thank you

Kane and Bean are just gorgeous     We really must try to meet somewhere in the middle for them to have a play.

That sounds like a great idea....im not sure where Kane is, but we are in Bristol...wheres the middle??

I'm not 100% sure, but I think Kane is in Yorkshire, and we are in Oxford. I'm not really sure where the middle is either, when Lesley confirms where they are I'll go out to the car and get the map and have a ponder. There are lots of Game Fairs in the Midlands, which are great fun, and I expect that one of them will be near enough to the middle  .

Blubelle is also Grappa's granddaughter and she is only just over 19", and Nina (Bluebelle's litter sister) is only 18". From my, albeit limited experience, they do only grow another inch or so after 6 months. So I think I do have a reasonable chance that Genevieve will not be much over 19". :)

None of my 4 have grown more than 1" to 1 1/4" after they turned 6 months

I'm in Wesy Yorkshire which is around 210 miles away from Bristol (w00t) with Oxford being just befor Bristol I think Birmingham is abour half wayish

Are either of you going to the taunton Open in July or the Heart of England interclub at the end of may I think

Dont forget they are only 6 months and there is no rule to follow on how big they will get.One way of knowing is to look at least 3 generations back, study pedigrees etc.Grappa is 22.5 inches and I know it all depends on the studs used to equalise the heights. According to my experience with grappas offspring you will have a 50 -50 chance of getting the appropiate heights for showing in that litter.Good luck!Dont get me wrong-it would be fantastic to see another blue in the showring(if thats your intention)By the way Im interested to know if all the pups in that litter have all their teeth cause if memory serves me well Valdassa r/blue lacked one-right in the middle,in the upper jaw.Let me know. Regards Gian

I just checked my notes and the blue bitch i gave Pat Adams did have a missing tooth.Let me know if it was passed on to any others in her litter! It would be great for my records

Well, i doubt very much that Genevieve will get anywhere near 21" not to mention 22". I have seen several of Grappa's progeny which were huge, but i could see they are huge long time before they came out of the baby puppy class. After 35 years of breding dogs I generally have a pretty good idea what is possible and what is not. You are right though, both Steely and Dede have some large dogs in their background, and so it is posible that some of the pups from this litter will be tall. And YES they ALL have ALL their teeth.

Cheers Lida

excellent then,if your confident Im confident! -for once I might agree with u. One more thing, the blues in that litter dont have much of a front so when it comes time to breeding her,no doubt u will, use a strong dog with substance. Of course thats just my opionion! There has been progress in breeding quality coloured whippets in this country -we dont wont to go backwards.Good luck and perhaps one day soon Ill c you in the ring-some blue on blue action would be great

Cheers Gian
